It is bittersweet that we are announcing the retirement of Captain Wayne Magwood and the Wind of Fortune. The boat and our father have worked the waters of the Eastern Seaboard for over 32 years together and she will be surely missed. Although it is never easy to say goodbye to things we love he is taking solace knowing she will be cared for and still working doing what she does best, catching shrimp! The iconic vessel was purchased yesterday by a younger Captain from Holden Beach, NC. Captain Magwood will be working from Shem Creek as a consultant and using his artisan skills sewing and repairing nets for his comrades from Tarvins's Seafood on Shem Creek. He encourages everyone to come by and shake his hand and continue to support American Fisherman by purchasing a few pounds of shrimp.
