Five minutes can tell you more than a page of feature bullets.

That’s why our recorded Freezerworks demo is short.

In 5 minutes, you’ll see how to:

🔍 Organize your inventory so you can find samples faster and manage them with ease.
❄️ Use the visual freezer to track storage at a glance and reduce guesswork.
📍 Capture every change in an audit trail so you always know what changed and when.
🗺️ Map your spreadsheet columns to Freezerworks fields, run the import, and make your collection immediately searchable and location-tracked.

Not screenshots of what the system could do, but the system actually doing it.

By the end, you’ll know if Freezerworks fits the way your lab works.

After 39 years in sample management, we’ve learned this:

Spreadsheets rarely fail because the software breaks, they fail because the lab outgrows the process around them.

The shift usually happens quietly:

📈 As sample volume grows, so does complexity.
🧠 Knowledge held by one person becomes a risk.
🔎 Small data-entry mistakes become harder to catch.
🫆 Traceability becomes harder to maintain across audits, teams, and locations.

At a certain point, the question is no longer: “𝘋𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬?” It becomes: “𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘦?”

Spreadsheets still have a place in many labs, but we've seen the same pattern across hundreds of biobanks: eventually, operational convenience and institutional requirements begin to pull in different directions.

Where is your lab on that curve?

A sample is only useful if you can find it.

Not just the freezer. The rack, box, and exact position.

Location accuracy erodes with every unreported move. Eventually, the database says one thing and the freezer says another.

Freezerworks 2 Visual Freezers closes that gap by mapping your storage hierarchy down to each occupied position.

Researchers get an exact coordinate, not a general vicinity.

Breast cancer breakthroughs often begin years before they reach patients, with a specimen someone chose to collect, preserve, and protect.

October is 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵. It is also a reminder of the quiet work behind that progress: tumor banks, tissue repositories, and matched specimen sets maintained through changes in funding, staff, and priorities.

Freezerworks is proud to support the researchers working to improve breast cancer treatment and outcomes.

Conservation biobanks manage collections that clinical systems were never designed to handle.

Necropsy tissue. Cryopreserved gametes from endangered species. Environmental samples collected in the field. Each requires different data, storage rules, and access controls.

Freezerworks 2 lets teams configure fields by sample type without code or a custom build. Each type can have its own required fields, so the system fits the collection rather than forcing it into a fixed structure.

For conservation and zoological biobanks, that flexibility matters. The system should support the work, not create workarounds.

Learn how Freezerworks 2 can support your collection types.

Plasma supports lifesaving therapies, clinical research, and advances in human health. Each donation can benefit patients and contribute to scientific discovery.

During 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗮 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, we recognize the donors, researchers, laboratory professionals, and healthcare teams who make plasma collection and use possible.

The week also highlights the care required at every stage, from donation and processing to testing, storage, and use.

Greater awareness helps people understand the impact of plasma and the work behind every donation.

A biobank can pass every audit and still have problems no one has found.

An audit confirms that the records and specimens reviewed met the requirements. But what about what no one reviewed: a sample in a back freezer, a specimen tied to a closed protocol, or inventory managed by someone who left years ago?

The strongest biobanks don’t prepare for audits. They operate as if any specimen could be reviewed tomorrow. Every transaction is documented, every sample has a clear history, and information is accessible when needed.

Passing an audit matters. 𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹.

Somewhere today, a child is sitting in a clinic, holding a parent’s hand, about to contribute to research they are too young to fully understand.

They may never see the results. They may never know which study their contribution supported. Years from now, it could help another child in another city.

On 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆, we recognize the children and families behind advances in pediatric medicine. They say yes without knowing whether they will benefit, trusting that their contribution will be protected and put to good use.

Freezerworks is proud to support the labs and biobanks working every day to honor that trust.

Academic core facilities need shared infrastructure without sacrificing local autonomy.

A separate system for every PI creates silos and one rigid system for everyone creates workarounds. Neither approach scales.

The right model standardizes what should be shared:

✅ Audit trails
✅ Training
✅ Governance

Each lab still controls its own workflows, freezer management, and configurations.

That’s what Freezerworks 2 was built to do. Learn more at the link in the comments. ⬇️

Two systems drift apart the moment they stop being updated simultaneously.

Sample tracking lives in one system. Test results live somewhere else. The records may start aligned, but eventually become unreconciled.

The reconciliation work compounds slowly enough that nobody notices until an audit or study review forces the issue.

It's unlikely your organization just wakes up one morning with a data problem. It's more likely you've inherited one gradually.
