Your Race plan
A race plan is more than just knowing your event, it’s having a strategy for success.
In practice, we work on the details that make a difference on race day. Starts, turns, breakouts, pace, stroke count, finishes, and importantly how to respond when a race gets tough. By practicing these skills over and over, they become habits we can trust when it matters most.
Having a race plan helps swimmers stay focused, confident, and in control. Instead of reacting during a race, they can execute with purpose and race to their strengths.Practice is where race plans are built. Meets are where they come to life.
What’s one part of your race plan you’ve been focusing on lately?

Technique is everything in swimming.
Swimming is a repetitive motion sport, meaning we repeat the same movements thousands of times every week. When technique starts to break down, it doesn’t just slow you down, it can also increase the risk of injury. Good technique helps protect the body, improve efficiency, and build habits that last throughout an athlete’s career.
Being successful in the water isn’t about being only strong or only efficient. You need both. Strength gives swimmers power, but technique and efficiency help them move through the water without wasting energy. The swimmers who combine power with great technique are the ones who see long term success.
Every drill, every practice, and every detail matters. Focus on the little things now, and they’ll make a big difference. Do you know what you should be working on?

Happy Mustang Monday!
This weekend’s intersquad meet was full of team spirit and fun times with our teammates. It was so great to see everyone cheering for one another and encouraging those around you.
Today, we also take time to honor and remember the brave men and women who fought for our country. We are grateful for their courage, service, and dedication.
As we continue through our season, we carry the values of teamwork, gratitude, and support with us every day.

Hydration is one of the most important parts of being a strong swimmer.
Whether you’re at practice or spending all day at a swim meet, your body loses fluids through every set. Staying hydrated helps improve energy, focus, endurance, recovery, and overall performance in the water.
Signs you may need more water:
• Headaches
• Muscle cramps
• Feeling tired or dizzy
Quick hydration tips:
- Bring a full water bottle to every practice and meet
- Sip water throughout the day, not just at practice
- Refill between events and after races
- Add electrolytes during long meet days or intense practices when needed.
Decorate your favorite water bottle and bring it to practice everyday! Fuel your body, recover better, and swim strong Mustangs!
