🟩🚨 SGC has suddenly raised its cheapest grading price from $15 to $50 per card, a major change for collectors who used the service as an affordable alternative to PSA.

Effective September 2, SGC’s standard submission fee has jumped by $35 per card. That means grading 20 cards now costs $1,000 before shipping, compared with just $300 previously.

SGC says the move is temporary and comes in response to “rapidly increasing demand and continued expansion of estimated turnaround times.”

The company is hiring, expanding its operational space and investing in new technology.

“Future adjustments to service levels should be expected between late 2026 and early 2027,” SGC stated, although there’s no guarantee the $15 option will return.

The timing is significant. PSA’s cheaper Value tiers remain paused due to its huge backlog, leaving CGC as the only major grader currently accepting sports cards below $50 per card.

For collectors grading lower-value modern cards, that suddenly makes the economics much tougher.
