Another good day for Champions Corner BOXING Gym. Road Warriors, Brandon Smith and Jacob Morris traveled to Huntsville Alabama to compete. Both gentlemen defeated their opponents, although only one win was recognized by the USA BOXING officials. Brandon Smith fought a 9-0 hometown fighter, put him through two standing 8 counts and won by unanimous decision. Jacob Morris fought a hometown 25 fight veteran, and lost a close split decision contested by many people in the arena, including the referee. Very proud of both of these young men and their efforts. Brandon and Jacob will be traveling to Orlando with other teammates for the international havoc tournament in Orlando, Florida in two weeks. We have three competitors competing at the mariachi club in Nashville on August 28, and pro fighters coming up with shows in the fall. This has been an unbelievable year so far for our gym. The winning efforts of both of these fighters came due to their skill and out hustling their opponents. Thank you, Coach Caruthers for getting Jacob and Brandon so well prepared for these great fights yesterday. Thank you for everyone who has been supporting us. 

Champion’s Corner Boxer/Coach Jacob Morris competed in the Oklahoma City rival amateur boxing contest this past weekend. Jacob went 2-1 (2 wins, 1 loss) and secured a silver metal fighting in the finals.

We are competing in Huntsville, Alabama this Saturday, August 1, in Nashville, Tennessee at the mariachi club on Friday, August 28, and are sending a team to the havoc amateur boxing tournament in Orlando Florida in a few weeks. This has been our busiest year yet!

So proud of Smilen Sam Alvey who defended his light heavyweight karate combat world title last night in Miami! Sam went up against tough Uriah Hall and won a unanimous decision! Have a safe trip back, Sam. We will see you in the gym.

Adam “Swamp Donkey” Richards stopped by Champions Corner boxing gym this afternoon. What a great individual! Adam holds a record with Mike Tyson for most amateur KO‘s in a row. He was a world ranked cruiserweight contender, and fought for the world title in Germany. Adam worked with Evander Holyfield as a consultant and sparring partner for over seven years. This man knows Boxing! Great to see him in the gym. Adam has written a book called “Swamp Donkey; Bred to Fight”! I think you can get it on Amazon or if interested contact me and I’ll find you one! 

Well… We brought three fighters… And came home with three wins! Congratulations to Jerry Melbert for securing a solid win in our first fight.
T Swain continued our winning streak with another decision over his opponent. Our third fight was Ramiro Rosales who went up against a seasoned opponent and out punched, out gutted and outlasted his opponent for a unanimous win. Hard work pays off and today’s fights are a testament to the win often going to the fighter who is in better shape. Thank you goes to Coach Caruthers for getting all of our fighters in such amazing shape! Thank you to all of the Champions Corner boxers who showed up in support. Come out Monday night at 5 PM and meet Adam “Swamp Donkey” Richards. Adam was very impressed with our fighters and decided he wanted to come meet everyone at the gym. Adam was a world ranked cruiser weight contender, fought for the world cruiser weight title in Germany and was a seven year sparring partner for a Evander Holyfield. See you in the gym.
