A little practice sesh. Focus was reloads and bill drills. I have a bad habit/hitch of dropping my hands after a reload instead of immediately presenting back in a straight line on target. All of this can be fixed focused dry fire. Accelerator Drills: great for throttle control, vision, and being prepared to shoot, plus ability to execute the fundamentals to achieve accurate hits. One thing I love about teaching is seeing the progression students make throughout the day. Cody demonstrated a ton of progression not just in this sequence of learning, but all throughout my time with him. When drawing from a holster, especially doing so quickly, it is fairly natural for our firing hand to clamp down with intense pressure onto the frame of the gun in preparation for the gun to go *bang* once we present on target. It is also uncommon for our support hand to take over that pressure once it is on the gun. UNLESS, we are deliberate in our training through dry fire of transferring pressure from firing hand to support hand so much that our support hand is applying more pressure than our firing hand. Think of it like this, our firing hand is the gas pedal controlling how fast we shoot and our support hand is the steering wheel controlling where the bullets land. Obviously this does not account for what we are seeing with our vision but something to be mindful when drawing from a holster. Interested in finding out more? PRIVATE GROUP with a personalized lesson plan. @whitecranehospitality came to me a while back and requested a class specific for his private group. He asked for an 8 hour day combining rifle and pistol. While this is not what I would traditionally recommend, we made it happen! I’ve had many duty belts over the years, but this one from just feels so comfortable. I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not I want to use this as a range belt but I don’t want to stop using it for daily use on duty. Guess I’ll just have to get another one. 🤘🏽
