I believe that yoga is for everyone to enjoy and a guide towards improving health and strength. Allow me to introduce myself.
I'm Scott Gooden, 34 years old, and my journey into yoga began during a pivotal period in my life. Faced with the need to find an alternative means of dealing with stress, I decided to immerse myself in physical activity, ultimately stumbling upon the transformative world of yoga. Initially unaware of the concept of trauma-informed yoga and its profound effects on the body, I delved into its study
, gradually unlocking its remarkable healing potential. Over the years, I've navigated diagnoses such as PTSD, insomnia, night terrors, ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and both short and long-term depression. Through this process, I came to understand how yoga serves as a powerful tool for individuals like myself, helping to release the stored trauma that often acts as a protective barrier within us—a shield forged in response to life's emotional and physical trials. Regrettably, my inability to effectively cope with such traumas led me down a path of unwise decisions in the past. As my knowledge of yoga deepened, I came to realize that I had been practicing a form of trauma-informed yoga all along. It was this practice that ultimately transformed my life in the most profound ways. I felt a profound desire to be able to share this gift to others, especially on those challenging days when I sought improvement and was open to any means of healing. Despite numerous prescriptions and therapy sessions, it was yoga that bestowed upon me stability, equilibrium, inner peace, joy, and healing. Teaching yoga became a calling, fueled by my passion to help others in their own healing journeys. I obtained my certifications, and now, I have the privilege of bringing yoga into various settings, from jails where I guide men on this transformative path, to working with autistic and low-impact children at McGavock High School, and empowering high school students at James Lawson High School. Additionally, I lead regular yoga classes at Crunch Fitness in both Antioch and Murfreesboro, TN, sharing the incredible benefits of yoga. Yoga has undeniably revolutionized my life, and I consider myself profoundly fortunate to have the opportunity to share this practice with others, making a positive impact in other people’s lives. I look forward to working with you and seeing how yoga can help you in your stage of life. Send me a text or give me a call (615-987-8255) to start your yoga sessions.
