Someone brought in a trike the other day to have it looked over because it was being given to a famliy member to ride. They wanted to make sure the trike was in good shape and would be safe. I could tell the trike had been ridden very little. The tires still had the nubs on them and the trike looked to be in good condition. This trike did not come from our shop and a lookover proved me right. What I noticed most was that there were several things that just seemed off. The brakes were noticeably soft, the rear seat stays were not installed correctly, the chain tubes were loose and ziptied, the rear rack was installed incorrectly, and there were a couple other things that needed addressing. It took about an hour to go over the trike and fix the small things that needed to be done.
I am not saying that whoever assembled this trike did it wrong, but it could have been better. When you buy a trike, know who built it and make sure they are knowledgeable on how it should be built.
