Fishing forcast for Middle Tennessee (August 2–8)

The summer pattern continues with very warm water temperatures and the best fishing during daybreak, the last couple of hours before sunset, and after dark. Midday fishing will generally be slow.

Bass
Overall: Fair to good.
Bass are holding on main-lake points, offshore ledges, flats, and shoreline cover in roughly 10–20 feet of water.
Fish low-light periods with topwater baits, then switch to Texas-rigged worms, Carolina rigs, jigs, and deep-diving crankbaits as the sun gets higher. TWRA reports the bass bite has been slow overall but improves in low-light conditions.

Crappie
Overall: Good.
Fish are holding around deep brush piles, docks, and bridge pilings in 10–20 feet.
Vertical jigging or live minnows over cover should produce consistent catches.

Catfish
Overall: Very good.
Night fishing remains the best option.
Target channel edges and deep holes with cut bait, skipjack, or nightcrawlers. Recent Tennessee reports continue to show strong catfish action.

Bluegill
Overall: Good.
Fish around docks, brush, and shaded banks with crickets or worms, especially early and late in the day.
