🌟 Office Manager & Adult FitFUSION Instructor: Mrs. Stephanie Swanson! 🌟

Mrs. Stephanie is excited to begin her 7th season back at Murphy School of Dance! As the "familiar face" in her role of office manager, she looks forward to meeting all the new students and families, as well as seeing our returning students this fall! In addition to office manager, Stephanie also teaches our Adult FitFusion classes, where anyone 18+ can take a variety of classes such as dance cardio, line dancing, or ballet! (Look for FitFusion date and time details on Facebook, coming soon!) 💥

Stephanie has been a part of the Murphy School of Dance family since 1992. At age 9, Stephanie began her dance training under Mrs. Janis Owl. For the next 15 years, she studied ballet, pointe, jazz, tap and baton, and taught classes for 5 years. She was also a Majorette in the Murphy High School Marching Band. Stephanie's daughter Taryn also grew up dancing at MSOD, and Stephanie had the honor of teaching her baby ballet and tap classes. Stephanie loves working and teaching dance at MSOD because she feels like it's such a full circle moment! She was first a student, then a teacher, then a dance mom, and now office manager, who has recently begun teaching again! 🥹🩷

One of Stephanie's favorite things is watching the students gain confidence and learn how to be brave through dance. She says, "It's so sweet to watch our students reach important milestones, like finally being old enough to take lyrical or pointe, being excited about doing a solo in the recital, or when they show off new dance skills they've mastered out in the lobby!" She truly does celebrate all of these accomplishments with each of our students! 👏

Outside of MSOD, Stephanie is also the Victim Advocate Administrator at Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, where she has been working for the past 21 years. 🖤💙🖤 She lives at home with her husband Chris, son Tyler, 2 cats and 1 dog. In her free time she enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling. She loves traveling to the beach and finding marine fossils and shark teeth! 🦈 Her fossil collection includes a partial megalodon tooth, a partial mammoth tooth, and a prehistoric manatee rib bone! 😱

Mrs. Stephanie is most looking forward to this year's recital, Cirque De Danse, and believes it will truly be the most magical show that MSOD has ever performed! 🎪🎠🎩

👋 At MSOD, we often get asked: "When is the best time for my child to start dance or tumbling?" The answer? Sooner than you might think! 💭

🩰 Dance classes at a young + adolescent age offer far more than just movement; they foster coordination, creativity, confidence, and social skills! Our classes are designed for toddlers as young as 2.5 years of age, introducing them to music, rhythm, and movement in exciting and engaging ways. 👏
Specifically, these early toddler years are a golden window for developing gross motor skills, body awareness, and musicality. 🎶 It's during this precious phase that children are most receptive to learning through play. 👯‍♀️ Starting young also makes the transition to new styles and genres of dance like Jazz, Hip Hop or Lyrical smoother and less intimidating. 💃🏻 Early dance education isn’t about mastering choreography, it’s about learning to listen, follow instructions, and move with joy! Our toddler and preschool classes use colourful props, themed music, obstacle courses, improvisation and imaginative play to gently guide children through basic techniques. More importantly, they build resilience and classroom confidence, skills that benefit them far beyond the studio. 🩵

🌟 Lead Tumbling Instructor: Miss Abbi Sutton 🌟

Miss Abbi is entering her third season as the Lead Tumbling Instructor at Murphy School of Dance. She brings an extensive background of 13 years of gymnastics and 10 years of cheerleading into every class she teaches, creating a fun, challenging, and encouraging environment for students of all ages. 🤸🏻‍♀️

During her college years, Miss Abbi served as Captain of the Young Harris College Cheerleading Team, where she developed strong leadership skills and a passion for mentoring others. Today, she works full-time at Young Harris College as the Enrollment Services Coordinator for Admissions while also serving as the Head Cheerleading Coach. 📣

Miss Abbi loves teaching at MSOD because of its welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere and the opportunity to help students grow - not only in their tumbling abilities, but also in their confidence, perseverance, and determination to achieve their goals. Her favorite part of teaching is witnessing the excitement and pride on each student’s face as they master a new skill and realize what they’re capable of accomplishing. 👏

Outside of the gym and studio, Miss Abbi enjoys shopping at local businesses, hiking, playing guitar, and spending time relaxing with her kitty. 🩵

😝 Fun Fact: Miss Abbi was a member of a competitive show choir in high school- just like the TV show Glee! 🎤✨
