A beautiful night for making ice with my boy!

Another addition this year is an old light fixture from the kitchen that we turned sideways and put our logo on! Should help light up the deck as you make your way out. Before the skating begins we lay a scrap carpet down across the deck so kiddos can get their skates tied inside and then walk out.

Step 6 is laying the red boards on the inside edge of the tarp and connecting them with piece of a 2x4 on the top edge. The boards will protect the liner from pucks , skates and snowblowers. These boards were a new find in a trash pile this year and they appear to be vinyl deck boards so we will see how they perform. In years past I’ve used 2x6, 2x4, plywood and anything else I could find to screw together. The lights around the top are zip tied to paracord and attached to old hockey sticks that we screwed to the corners posts. With cold weather hopefully here soon all we need to do is wait!
