Sorry about the short notice, there is a GMGA meeting Sunday, June 7th, 2pm at Chase Hammond Golf Course.
Lincoln is taking tee times for the Lincoln Best Ball.
Hello everyone from the Sunshine State, Florida.
I've been down here since February 7th and was suppose to be home 3 weeks ago but extended my stay because what is happening in Michigan.
I have been golfing since I got here, obviously they closed the bar and restaurants, but I was doing the same thing I always do down here. Walking on the beach (Gulf), walking in the County Parks, going to the grocery store, Sam's Club, getting gas and visiting with the family.
Most of you probably know White Lake G.C. moved their event until September, I haven't heard from Oceana G.C. but I do know the Lincoln Best Ball is still on the original date.
Our schedule is still up in the air, I will know more when I get home and contact the courses, since Michigan allowed the use of golf carts.
Belonging to the GAM (Golf Association of Michigan) I emailed them my opinion how Michigan could open up in April. I followed what Florida was doing, each person with a cart, you could not remove the flags, they placed a cut off noodle in the cup where the ball would go in 1/2 way. Obviously, their restaurants and bar area's were closed for seating. You could get a cocktail/beer and take it out of the bar to the outside, you could also order take out for food. Mostly everyone drank in the parking lots. They were allowing events you just didn't have the food and drinks afterwards. They sanitized the carts before play and after by washing them down and wiping them off. Some of the courses brought out the carts to you and some would put your clubs onto the cart. They wanted no more then 3 people in the pro shop at a time.
I played in a big gangsome every Saturday and yesterday they allowed seating in the clubhouse area's and we could have our cocktails/beer in the clubhouse/dining area.
So everything is starting to open in Florida tomorrow, salons, car washes, etc. The funny thing about Florida, they didn't close that much, you could go to anything that was open, you could cruise the beaches, landscaping was never closed and if you owned a pool you could use it.
They open the restaurants this past Monday and for the first time we went to one of our favorites and it was weird. But good.
Hopefully you are all safe and healthy. I will see you on the links.
