We are a Dance Academy that pride ourselves on technique and style while producing a high quality of education for our students. www.obxdanceacademy.com

For Recreational and Pre Professional students. Our studio offers a wide variety in dance styles. Our studio is also home to the Outer Banks highest awarded Dance Competition Team. Outer Banks Dance Academy also offerers master classes both at their studio and at workshops. Our students have taken Master and Company Classes with Dance Theatre of Harlem, Virginia Ballet Theatre, Todd Rosenlieb Dance, Sonya Tayeh, Travis Wall, Billy Bell just to name a few. Our teaching staff has been educated by the best in the industry. Outer Banks Dance Academy staff is highly certified, and have several awards, and proven results that foster their teaching methods. The teaching staff truly enjoys working with and educating dancers. We believe every child should be offered the finest in education whether they chose to or chose not to pursue a career in dance. We are so pumped to be getting back into the studio for Season 14!! We thought what is a better way to kick off the season than to meet our newest instructor Annie Watts.

‘Originally from New York City, I relocated to the Outer Banks three years ago with my husband and our two pups, Link and Luna. I started dancing at a young age, training in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop, and grew up competing on the NY/NJ dance competition circuit. In college, I had the honor of leading the Syracuse University Dance Company for three years. Back in NYC, I spent a decade with DanceWorks New York City as a dancer and choreographer. While I love every style, my heart belongs to hip hop and commercial dance. Outside of dance, I work in graphic design and branding, and spend my free time traveling, painting, and playing video games.’

Our 2026-2027 Competition Team. What an amazing group of dancers. This year we have 7 Elevated Artist, 41 dancers competiting, and a whole lot of heart! We cannot wait to get started in choreography over the next few weeks.

Reminder to SAVE THE DATE!

This date was put in the studio pro calendar in the spring, we are just sharing this post as a friendly reminder.

Dancers are to wear all white or at least all white on top. 🤍

Dancers are permitted to wear light jean shorts/pants or skirts.

Since the team is so large this season we are trying to shoot outside weather permitting. Dancers will wear shoes please try to keep them in the white or neutral color family.

Recital was last week and we are still on cloud nine💜
Here are a few shots took backstage.

Dancers you were beautiful! I am so proud of your passion, grace and dedication. Dance is a living legacy, you carry the movement and lessons of those who danced before you.
I do not go one day without thinking about the knowledge that was bestowed upon me by so many amazing dance instructors. I reflect on their wise words and the lessons they graced me with. Some of these people have passed and some still gracing this earth today. I hope they all know how grateful I am for them and how I am proud to honor their legacy, and help my students and families to continue to be the dancers and people they helped me become.
