There’s been a lot happening in the suppressor world lately, and we wanted to take a minute to recognize a few of the companies and organizations that helped move things forward.
In August, a federal court ruled that certain NFA registration requirements could no longer be enforced against the plaintiffs, their members, and qualifying customers following the elimination of the associated federal tax. The injunction went into effect August 13, creating a new pathway for qualifying suppressor purchases in a number of states. It’s an important change, but it’s also worth remembering that the ruling is not a blanket exemption for every suppressor transaction nationwide, and state and local laws still apply.

For qualifying customers, companies like SilencerCo and Silencer Shop are now offering pathways in 27 states where eligible suppressors can transfer through the standard Form 4473 and NICS background-check process rather than the traditional Form 4 process.
For us, the exciting part is hopefully seeing more Americans experience suppressed shooting—whether that’s protecting their hearing, spending time at the range, hunting, or just making shooting a little more enjoyable.
