After surviving two bone marrow transplants that led to pulmonary fibrosis, Marci McCalley received the gift of a double lung transplant in February 2024. Just over two years later, she crossed the finish line at this years 2026 Nantucket Triathlon.
She may have finished near the back of the pack, but she was quick to point out that she "won the lung transplant division!"
For years, Marci came to Nantucket to cheer on her husband, daughter, and friends from the sidelines. This year, she was out there racing right alongside them.
This is what the Nantucket Triathlon is all about. It's not just about finishing times or podiums. It's about overcoming obstacles, celebrating second chances, and accomplishing something you once thought was impossible.
Marci, thank you for sharing your story with all of us. Congratulations - and thank you to the organ donor, family, friends, and medical team who helped make this all possible.
*Marci personally asked us to share this. Consider registering as an organ donor. You never know what incredible milestones the person you save will accomplish. https://www.organdonor.gov/sign-up
