2016 Chicago Pro Am Summary
A balmy fall day in Chicago greeted the participants of the 15th Annual Chicago GolfTEC Pro Am. JC Linthicum and Leon Mitchell shot even par 27 to tie for the low amateur award, with JC taking home the hardware with a chip off win. JC and Leon were joined in the shootout under the lights by AJ Michalowicz, Erik Spracklen, Geoffrey Wharton, Uli Lohrman, Josh Barr, Bill Altier, Kevin Eck, and Roland Ruivivar. The competition was as close as ever, as we had 16 participants in chip off’s in the first three holes of the shoot-out, highlighted by the first ever play off chip in by Geoffrey Wharton.
The final four came down to Josh, Erik, Uli and Roland. Josh was eliminated first, as he failed to make par. Erik was eliminated in a chip off next after all 3 remaining players made par. The final hole pitted Uli against Roland. Roland had the tee and pulled his tee shot left of the green. Uli proceeded to hit the middle of the green. Roland hit a nice chip to 4 feet, while Uli’s lag putt couldn’t get closer. Uli lipped out his par putt and Roland buried his par putt to win! Great playing Roland – he was 2 under par for the 7 holes of the shoot out!
The team competition saw a two horse race emerge. Luther Abernethy of Oak Brook and his team of Rick Sleckman, Dale Saari, Mike Jochcum and Jason Nash shot six under par to hold on for two stroke win. Kurt Kollmeyer’s team of Erik Spracklen, Josh Barr, JD Sun and John Schaefer finished runner up at 4 under par. The low pro award this year was a tie between Luther Abernethy and James Standhardt.
Thank you to all who participated and made the 15th Annual Chicago Pro Am a great day of golf and fun!
