Rhythm vs. Latin: Are you making these mistakes? 💃🕺

If you’ve ever felt off-balance performing an American Rhythm Cross Body Lead Pivot or from an International Latin Forward Walk Turning, it’s usually not your partner ;) It comes down to one hidden mechanic: your weight transfer & placement.

A lot of dancers blow through to a side step or collapse their poise and thus posture when changing directions.

In this 3-part mini-series, I’ll succinctly break down the exact adjustments, inner thigh connections, and poise focus you need to transition flawlessly for both steps in both styles.

I am incredibly proud of these two amazing dancers for their beautiful performances at the Virginia State DanceSport Championships! While bringing home medals is always a wonderful bonus, the true win is the courage, dedication, and growth it takes to get out there and compete.

🏆 Two Styles, Two Days, Zero Limits! 🏆

Huge congratulations to my amazing student, Joann Kelley, on an incredible weekend at the Crown Jewel dance championships!

Not only did we take home 1st Place in the American Smooth Scholarship and 2nd Place in the American Rhythm Scholarship, but we achieved our biggest goal of the weekend: dancing at our absolute best two days in a row.

Joann, your resilience, dedication, and sheer talent shone brightly on that floor. I am so incredibly proud of you, and the entire Masterpiece Ballroom family is cheering you on! 💃✨
