It’s the first closed week of the summer at Olde Florida, and the agronomy team is eager to begin the necessary cultural practices that help keep the turfgrass healthy through the summer, and equally important preparing the golf course for the next winter golf season.
Hopefully the rain holds off until late afternoon today and later in the week so the team can take full advantage of the closed days.
A productive summer starts now!

The family wishes all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day! For those golfing today, we hope you’re enjoying the day on the course. And, a special shout-out to our resident mothers: Ginger behind the 5th green and Sleepy on the driving range, each nurturing three Eastern Screech Owl hatchlings!” on the course! Congratulations are in order for our golf course architect, Rees Jones!
Congratulations to “A true New Jerseyite,” as ASGCA Past President Rees Jones describes himself. “The Open Doctor” was inducted into the New Jersey Golf Hall of Fame April 22. “If any New Jersey club called, I would do the work for them, even if I was extremely busy. Because it’s my home state, I felt a strong sense of responsibility.” Jones joins his father, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., ASGCA, in the NJ Golf Hall of Fame. https://asgca.org/rees-jones-asgca-fellow-inducted-into-new-jersey-golf-hall-of-fame/

After five years of dedicated service on the agronomy team as Assistant Superintendent, Will Bendy will be leaving Olde Florida Golf Club. Tomorrow will be his final day with us as he returns home to Tennessee to accept a position as a golf course superintendent.
Will has meant a great deal to our team during his time here. While we will miss him, we are proud of him and excited to see him take this next step in his career. We are thankful for all he has done for Olde Florida Golf Club and wish him the very best in the future.

FLORIDA RECORD HEAT! 🥵🔥 Possible by this weekend, especially Saturday, as highs reach the lower to mid 90s inland. These temps will be more typical of early June. Plenty of beach and pool time ahead!

NEW: The drought is so bad in Florida right now we would need 14-19" of rain over the next month just to end it. While we do have some rain in the forecast over the next week, it won't be enough to eliminate the drought. Rainy season is officially still 2 months away.

Spring has officially arrived at Olde Florida Golf Club, because the whole gang is back!
Ginger has returned to her box on No. 5, Julia is back at the clubhouse with one egg, Sleepy has settled back in next to the driving range with two eggs, and last but certainly not least, Ms. Emmy has returned to her nest just left of the 18th fairway.
These familiar springtime residents have become a special part of life at Olde Florida, and it is always fun to see them return to the property each year. Little moments like this are just one more reminder of how unique and beautiful this place truly is.

A breathtaking sunrise over Hole #1 this morning at Olde Florida Golf Club as we begin Day 3 of the Club Championship.
Our agronomy team arrived before daylight to prepare the course, and our golf and clubhouse staff are here and ready to support and serve our members throughout the day.
It truly takes the entire Olde Florida team to make events like this special. Good luck to all of our players!
