Another beautiful sunrise at Olde Florida Golf Club
Last night the Olde Florida Golf Club membership honored the senior leadership team of Tom Wildenhaus, Director of Golf and Darren J. Davis, Certified Golf Course Superintendent.
Wildenhaus was acknowledged for having been named the 2021 PGA Golf Professional of the year. Davis was recognized for having served as the 82nd President of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
Both gentlemen have not only served the Olde Florida membership for close to 30 years, they have also served, promoted and assisted in the growth of the golf industry at a local, state and national level over the same length of time.
On hand to participate in the event were Rhett Evans CEO of the GCSAA and Geoff Lofstead, Executive Director of the South Florida PGA.
Several notable individuals sent congratulatory letters that were read to the over 100 attendees. Letters were received from Seth Waugh, CEO of the PGA of America, Rees Jones Golf Course Architect and Jack Nicklaus.
Thank you to the members who attended to celebrate the careers and service of these gentlemen!

Yesterday afternoon we received 2.75” in one hour, which brings the monthly total to 15.4”. The Better Billy Bunker system that was installed in all of the bunkers this summer during the renovation has performed phenomenally! This bunker on 1 green (photo taken this morning) would have required EXTENSIVE repair prior to the renovation.

The renovation and grassing of holes 1 - 18 is complete and the grow-in of the new TifTuf bermudagrass is underway.
We are anticipating completion of the driving range by this time next week.
In addition to the renovation work and grow-in this summer, the agronomy team have also been managing the existing TifEagle greens. Today they are receiving the final core aeration for 2021.

Tropical Storm Fred pushed through Southwest Florida over the weekend. On Saturday the storm dumped 3.5” of rain (very hard and quick).
