Last night Olde Florida received 4” of rain in approximately 90 minutes. Prior to last summer’s installation of the Better Billy Bunker Inc. system, the agronomy team would have utilized between 120-160 man hours to pump, redistribute sand and repair the bunkers. This morning 4 employees had everything ready for play in 4 hours with no pumping necessary.
This is hole 16 prior to the arrival of the bunker team.

Eastern Screech Owls will often use the same nest each year. This year, four of the five moms that nested last year returned to Olde Florida to fledge their young.

Several years ago we started naming each mother. We called the mom that uses the box behind twelve tee “Stink eye,” because each time we check on her, she gives us “the stink eye.” This year she has two eggs in her box. One has hatched.

The mother that uses the nest in front of the clubhouse, we named “Sleepy.” When we look in on her, she rarely even opens her eyes. Sleepy has one hatchling in her nest this year.

“Ginger” is also back with us. Her nesting box is behind the fifth green. We named her Ginger in part because of her color, but also because she can be a little feisty. Understandably she is very protective of her young. Ginger has three eggs in her nest.

Jessica (Rabbit) is the fourth screech owl to return to nest. Unlike feisty Ginger, the other “red” on property, Jessica is very passive. She seems to enjoy having her picture taken. She has one egg this year in her box next to the driving range.

Between the four screech owls on property this year, they have laid seven eggs.
