The Olde Florida Golf Club family is saddened by the passing of our dear friend and fellow member, Coach Mike Ditka.

Coach was one of Olde Florida’s original Founding Members and played an instrumental role in the Club’s early success. His influence, support, and belief in what we were building brought tremendous recognition to Olde Florida during our formative years. We will always be grateful for the important role he played in helping establish our Club.

While the world knew Coach for his legendary accomplishments in professional football, we knew him as a valued member of the Olde Florida family.

As part of our recent clubhouse renovation, we included a photographic tribute to Coach in the Card Room, a fitting recognition of his place in our history and a reminder to future generations of the impact he had on our Club.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Coach’s family and friends. His friendship, contributions, and legacy will always be part of Olde Florida.

Rest in peace, Coach. You will always be remembered and appreciated.

It has been a long three years, but it looks like work on the Vanderbilt Beach Road Extension project is finally coming to an end.

It’s the first closed week of the summer at Olde Florida, and the agronomy team is eager to begin the necessary cultural practices that help keep the turfgrass healthy through the summer, and equally important preparing the golf course for the next winter golf season.

Hopefully the rain holds off until late afternoon today and later in the week so the team can take full advantage of the closed days.

A productive summer starts now!

Congratulations are in order for our golf course architect, Rees Jones!

Congratulations to “A true New Jerseyite,” as ASGCA Past President Rees Jones describes himself. “The Open Doctor” was inducted into the New Jersey Golf Hall of Fame April 22. “If any New Jersey club called, I would do the work for them, even if I was extremely busy. After five years of dedicated service on the agronomy team as Assistant Superintendent, Will Bendy will be leaving Olde Florida Golf Club. Tomorrow will be his final day with us as he returns home to Tennessee to accept a position as a golf course superintendent.

Will has meant a great deal to our team during his time here. While we will miss him, we are proud of him and excited to see him take this next step in his career. We are thankful for all he has done for Olde Florida Golf Club and wish him the very best in the future.
