10 YEARS UNITED: Chapter 2: The Dream That Started It All

Every great club begins with a dream.

For Naples United FC, that dream belonged to an Argentinian couple—Vicente and Veronica.

After a successful playing career in Argentina and abroad, Vicente carried with him a vision that extended far beyond the soccer field. He wanted to use his experience to inspire others, develop players, and help grow the beautiful game in the United States. Together, after careful planning and countless conversations, he and Veronica made a life-changing decision: they left behind their life in Miami and relocated to Naples, Florida.

In 2016, Naples United FC was born.

At the time, Naples had very little in the way of high-level competitive soccer. There was no established pathway for aspiring players, no professional club to represent the city, and no organization dedicated to building the sport from the ground up. Vicente and Veronica believed Naples deserved something greater.

The early days were humble.

A handful of local players attended the first tryouts. To build a competitive squad, players from neighboring counties were invited to join the project. Training sessions took place at Eagles Lakes Park, and the club entered the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), taking its first steps into Florida’s competitive soccer landscape.

There were no major investors. No county funding. No blueprint to follow. No established player pool waiting to be signed.

There was simply a husband and wife with unwavering belief, relentless determination, and a dream of building something that would one day make the City of Naples proud.

Ten years later, as we reflect on where this journey began, we remember that Naples United FC wasn’t founded on financial backing or outside support.

It was built on courage, sacrifice, love for community and the conviction that one club could elevate the name of Naples throughout Florida—and far beyond.

And this was only the beginning… 🩵⚽️

To our supporters, sponsors, partners, and everyone who purchased tickets through Naples United FC,

We want to sincerely apologize for our absence from tonight’s Soccer Night.

Over the past several months, our club invested significant time, effort, and resources into helping plan and promote this event. Unfortunately, circumstances changed in the final hours leading up to the event in a way that did not align with our understanding of the partnership or the principles that guide our organization.

After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision not to participate.

This decision was not made lightly, nor is it intended to take away from an evening celebrating the beautiful game. We truly hope everyone attending enjoys a wonderful experience with their families.

Naples United FC remains committed to serving our community, supporting youth soccer, and growing the game with integrity, respect, and professionalism.

Today, that vision has grown into so much more than we ever imagined.
