A note from Bobby on the weekend
"My takeaways from the tournament!

'These guys are really good!' The PGA Tour's byline certainly still rings true! Being away from tour events over the last few years, I am always inspired and awed to be around excellent players as it raises everyones' games!

Take care of your body! I thought I was in decent shape, but to be honest, since the pandemic and losing my habit of going to the gym, my wife and I have been a little slack about our workouts! After playing 6 days in a row, my body, especially my back, let me know I could do a better job! By tournament time on Friday, I was already feeling stiff, but yesterday, my back was so tight that I couldn't get my body to finish my swing. As a result, I lost distance that I'm used to and pushed a lot of shots right.

Also, putting may be boring to practice, but it's so important! Too many 2 putts! At Spyglass on Friday, I kept leaving the putts short, and we didn't read the greens the best. At Pebble, many of the greens have been redone, so my local knowledge didn't help that much!

Catching up with old friends and making new ones!
It was great to be with so many old friends, many of whom date back to my junior golf years, like Joey Sindelar, Corey Pavin, Michael Allen, and Fred Funk! We swapped stories and opinions on so many things. And most of all, how great the Sponsor of the tournament, Pure Insurance, along with their guests, the pro-am partners, Monterey Peninsula Foundation tournament staff, and volunteers were throughout the week - not to mention all the planning and preparation!

Now, on to the JUNIORS!!!! The First Tee Juniors rock! Not only were these kids great golfers, but what nice young men and women! Selected to represent their First Tee Chapters from around the country, these high school players epitomize the values of the First Tee Organization. I was blessed to play with high school junior Tanvi Samayam from the Trenton, NJ First Tee. Like my fellow professionals, I advised and coached her as my junior partner throughout the rounds. She was delightful - upbeat, confident, and respectful. In addition, I had the honor of meeting her parents and relatives who traveled with her.

A special thanks to my caddy - Ellie Bushnell! I've been blessed to work with Ellie, now a high school senior, for the last couple of years as she fine-tuned her own game. As a California State Junior Champion, Ellie was eager to help me by being on the bag after I had caddied for her in a couple of events as her coach. It was a special time to have her helping me while learning at the same time! She'll be heading to Oklahoma State next fall on a full golf scholarship!

Again - my hat is off to Pure Insurance, the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, who runs the tournament along with their volunteers, the First Tee for developing such great young men and women, and the PGA Tour Champions staff. It is not lost on us players the importance of the PGA Tour and the wonderful sponsors of all the tours to our great game of golf."
