Saturday, May 9, 2020. Each year proceeds of the event are contributed to a local organization working for the town's benefit.

The Annual Great Dock Canoe Race, jointly sponsored by The Dock at Crayton Cove and Riverwalk restaurants, began as a community event, and has stayed true to its roots.

Hello fellow canoers,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce there will not be a Great Dock Canoe Race this year. We truly enjoyed carrying on the tradition for three successful years. Unfortunately, following the setbacks of the pandemic, a number of contributing factors leave us unable to paddle this year. We look forward to helping transition the event to another organization with hopes to keep it going for years to come.

Hi friends!

Thank you to everyone who messaged us about the Great Dock Canoe Race! It is great to know that it is as important to you as it is to us. Last year, we were forced to cancel the Great Dock Canoe Race. This year, the circumstances surrounding the coronavirus simply made it infeasible to put on the Great Dock Canoe Race that we know and love. We are bummed. We know you are too. BUT, we promise you that we plan on coming back bigger and better than ever. Hang in there with us .... the 2022 Great Dock Canoe Race will be worth the wait!

Coronavirus may have cancelled the crowd but couldn’t stop these race veterans from competing for the 44th Annual Great Dock Canoe Race crown! Kim Kelsey and Tyson Beebe finished 21:00 and Bill Ervin and AJ Ervin finished 20:50. Tradition lives on and we look forward to getting back to normal with next year’s event.

History made. History preserved.

The Races were cancelled but THE RACE still happened. Bill Ervin and Kim Kelsey have raced each other with their respective partners since 1985. They ran the practically professional race this year (with an extra loop around the Gordon River Bridge for fun) because they love the Great Dock Canoe Race and wanted to help keep the tradition alive.
