For some reason I was reluctant to do guided meditation/yoga nidra with my patients at the psych hospital. But, I've been preparing for my women's group retreat and it occurred to me how beneficial it would be for the patients. So, I gave it a try today. Afterward, one of the patients said "That was the most relaxed I've been since I got here." That made me smile... 😁🕉️

Photos from our Yoga, Tea, and Gratitude event last Sunday. It was such a lovely afternoon. We did some gentle yoga with an emphasis on breathing and de-stressing after the holiday, then had some nice, hot tea and settled in for a conversation about the scientific and energetic effects of gratitude. I loved spending time with these women. Connection and stress management are so important to mental and emotional health.

This Sunday, the 28th, Over 40, Fearless, and Free Women's Group is hosting a special event in Bonita Springs, a Post-Holiday Workshop: Yoga, Tea, and Gratitude.
Join us from 2-4 PM for a cozy afternoon of rejuvenation, reflection, and connection. We will start our practice with gentle yoga, followed by tea, a conversation about the scientific and energetic benefits of gratitude, journaling, and a sharing circle. We will have a variety of herbal and black teas to choose from and writing materials will be provided, but feel free to bring a favorite journal or special mug. Participants will leave feeling refreshed, renewed, and connected to new friends.

Yoga might be pretty, but it was never meant to be pretty. Yoga is a practice that was started 8,000 years ago by yogis who wanted to prepare their bodies for meditation. At it's core, yoga is a method for quieting the mind and releasing physical stress. When practicing, don't think about what you look like to other people. Focus on how it feels in your body. If it's looks pretty sometimes, that's accidental. Stay focused. Go inward. Find your center...


There's something special about doing yoga in nature. Students come to yoga for different reasons.

But, a common reason is to feel more centered and connected to one's true self. Practicing in nature is especially calming because it can change our rhythm and vibration.

To learn about the benefits to the body, mind, and soul.


I first learned about the concept of the Mother Wound in 2018, when a friend and I were planning a women's circle.

It would be several years before I fully understood the concept and the impact it's had on my life.

According to Dr. Mari Kovanen, “The greatest pain of all is the mother wound, the emotional absence of your mother in your early years. The mother wound can be defined as your mother not being emotionally attuned and available to you as a child. She may have been present physically but emotionally absent.”

“Children who are raised by alcoholics, drug-addicted mothers, or mothers who have mental health conditions, either undiagnosed or untreated, may struggle into their own adulthood.

However, there are also children who are raised by mothers who do not have these challenges. These are mothers who may provide for the physical needs of the children, and even interact with the children in a positive way, but simply do not provide the deep love and attention that all children require.

They may not have been abusive or neglectful, and they may never have engaged in negativity in their relationships with the children, but they were also always distant and less tuned-into the emotional needs of their children.”
