That’s what I thought.

I was always very shy.

Leadership didn’t even feel like something that belonged to me.

Who was I to lead anyone?

I didn’t have some huge moment where I suddenly became confident.

I just kept saying little yeses.

If you want to build confidence, say yes.
If you want to discover what you’re capable of, say yes.
If you want to grow into a leader before you feel like one, say yes.
If you want to create something bigger than yourself, say yes.

One yes. Then another. Then another.

And somewhere along the way, I realized…

I actually am a leader.

Not because I stopped being shy.
Not because I have it all figured out.

I’m still growing. Still learning. Still saying yes.

One little yes at a time, I’m becoming more of the leader I never thought I could be.

Maybe being shy was never the opposite of leadership.

Maybe I just had the wrong picture of what a leader looks like. ā¤ļø

Okay… I have to ask. šŸ˜‚

I’m walking around with THIS black eye, and now I keep wondering what goes through people’s minds when they first see me.

We opened our Shy to Shine season at our studio yesterday, and I found myself immediately explaining it to the parents and kids.

And this week I’m also going into pre-schools, seeing children, teachers, and directors…

so now I have this ridiculous little dilemma:

Do I explain the black eye to everyone I meet… or just let them wonder? šŸ˜‚

Because let’s be honest — when someone walks into a room with a black eye, your brain creates a story.

So before anyone creates a really dramatic one…

My sweet husband is innocent.

This man won’t even have a pillow fight with me. šŸ˜‚

Volleyball (catch-ball) did it.

I was having the BEST time with a group of women, feeling more alive than I have in a long time… and apparently I got a little too enthusiastic.

So tell me:

A. Explain it immediately
B. Let them wonder

I used to wait.

Wait until I felt ready.
Wait until I looked better.
Wait until I thought I could do it ā€œright.ā€

Yesterday I got hit in the face playing volleyball # and ended up with a little black eye.

My first thought was basically:
Well, I’ll film when this is gone. PersonalGrowth

And then I caught myself.

Because this is exactly what I’m trying to unlearn.

There is always going to be something.
The timing.
The way I look.
The fear of being judged.
The fear of looking silly.

So today I’m making a different choice.

Not because I suddenly feel fearless.

But because I’m willing to be seen before everything feels perfect.

Black eye and all. ā¤ļø P.S. Before anyone asks… my husband is innocent. šŸ˜‚
Volleyball really did this.

ā€œWe’re protecting space for people to be people.ā€

A phone can connect us to the whole world — and still pull us away from the person sitting right beside us. Research has found that when phones are present, people socialize less and often enjoy the interaction less. We are human beings. We need eye contact, conversation, laughter, emotion, and real connection.

That’s why we’re creating a **phone-free sacred space** at Yoga at Play + Shy to Shine. šŸ’œ We invite our parents and caregivers to join us: put the phone away, choose a card from the basket, start a conversation, and let your child see what real human connection looks like. **Let’s look up. Let’s talk. Let’s belong.**

At Yoga At Play we don't do competition. šŸš«šŸ†

No "best pose." No ranking who flies highest on the silks. No comparing one kid's progress to another's.

Because every child walks in carrying something different — some are bursting with energy, some are working up the courage to just walk through the door. And both of those kids matter exactly the same amount here.

We measure success in smiles, in trying something new, in the quiet kid who finally raises their hand. Not in who's "better."
Every child belongs. Every child matters. šŸ’œāœØ

O-FREEEEEET. šŸ˜„

Some people get it on the first try.
Some need a second.
And some need a whole Kelly Drives segment.

A little throwback to our visit in May—and a reminder that we’ve all had a name we needed to hear one more time.

At Yoga@Play, we are always practicing.

We practice movement.
We practice courage.
We practice listening.
We practice kindness.
And yes…we practice saying one another’s names correctly.

Because a name is never just a small detail.

A name can carry family, culture, history, identity, and belonging. When we slow down, ask again, and make the effort to get it right, we are telling another soul:

I see you.
You matter.
You belong here.

There is no shame in saying, ā€œCan you teach me how to pronounce your name one more time?ā€ The important part is caring enough to keep practicing.

And for today’s practice: Ofrit. šŸ’›

Is there a name you wish more people would take the time to learn? Teach us in the comments.

"Every child counts here."

That's how one Shy to Shine parent, Melanie, described what she's watched happen in her daughter this season. Not just strength and flexibility on the aerial silks — though there's plenty of that — but confidence. Focus. Self-awareness. A kid who finally feels comfortable taking up space in a room.

That's the whole reason Ofrit Gal built this program. Shyness isn't something to fix — it's a signal, and kids just need the right space and the right people to grow into themselves.

We get to watch this shift happen in real time, and it genuinely never gets old.

Fall 2026 Shy to Shine registration is opening soon. Comment below or send us a message and we'll get you all the details.

What's a moment you've watched your own child grow into more confidence? We'd love to hear about it. šŸ’›

🚨 This is the LAST teacher training of the summer.

And here's why we're saying something: demand from local schools has been through the roof. Principals, PE teachers, counselors, after-school directors — all calling us weekly asking for certified kids yoga & mindfulness teachers this fall.

We can't keep up.

If you've been thinking about it, this is your last window to train now and start working this fall. Only a few more spots left.

Swipe to hear from our graduates → the mom-turned-music-teacher who was told "I love you" by 10 little voices in her first class šŸ’› the college student who started working right away, the career changer who found her calling.

Sometimes it's just standing back for a moment and embracing things calm and quietly that can bring the most out of life

Embracing life for how weird it can be at times and how usually what we want doesn't happen, but that's ok. Humans are built to be resilience and resiliency is everything

Today was a brief pause for a quiet Aerila Yoga studio eagerly anticipating the litter patter of little ones feet this Fall
