Sukhi has some news. She’s going to be a big sister soon. 🤍

Her mom, Mukti, is expecting another foal by Machi in spring 2027.

If you’ve followed Sukhi, you already know why we’re excited about this cross. She came into the world well gaited, athletic, curious, affectionate and incredibly intuitive. She has the kind of mind that makes you stop and pay attention.

And apparently, jumping is a perfectly reasonable way to get wherever she’s going.

Mukti brings so much of what we value in a mare, and Machi brings that quiet, thoughtful nature we love alongside movement and athleticism. Sukhi gave us a beautiful glimpse of what the two can create together.

And for the color lovers, Sukhi is a grulla roan who is homozygous dun and homozygous black, giving this repeat cross some pretty exciting color possibilities, too.

Now we get to see their story written one more time and then Mukti goes on a long sabbatical.

The future of the Rocky Mountain Horse begins with an honest look at where we stand today.

How many Rocky Mountain Horses are actually out there, and what does the shape of the herd tell us about where we are headed?

I spent months trying to answer that question.

The result is The Long View, a careful look at the RMHA registry, decades of registration data, and what those numbers may be telling us about the future of the Rocky Mountain Horse.

Where do we actually stand?

With the addition of 2024 and 2025 registration data, we have a clearer and more current picture than we did when this work began. But registry numbers can only take us so far. What we still need is a true census of the living herd, something the RMHA is already considering and an important next step in understanding the breed we are working together to preserve.

This breed came to us through a narrow gate. It survived because people before us loved these horses enough to preserve them when it would have been easier not to.

There are Rocky Mountain Horses to count today because they made sure there would be.

I am grateful to Shawna Smith at the RMHA office, whose patience, precision, and generosity made this research possible, and to Brittany Hopkins of Hopkins Mountain Horses. Her love for this breed, and for the database that helps us understand it, led to countless conversations, questions, and discoveries as we worked through what those numbers might be telling us together.

Throughout September, the Rocky Mountain Horse Association will be sharing special events, educational resources, historical features, exciting announcements—and a few surprises!

Some of the best care happens in the quiet moments.

Today our osteopath spent time with five of our horses, helping restore balance from poll to sacrum, releasing a stuck TMJ, and addressing restrictions throughout the body. It’s one more way we invest in the horses long before anyone ever swings a leg over them.

The best part?

The babies thought the whole thing was fascinating. They watched every adjustment, investigated every movement, and, of course, had to be part of the action. Curiosity is one of our favorite traits to see in a young horse.

At American Dream Horse, developing exceptional horses means looking beyond pedigrees and pretty pictures. It means paying attention to the details that support comfort, soundness, and lifelong wellness.

Because every horse has a story.

And every horse deserves to feel their best. 🤍

I see Hank in her.

At just two months old, she’s already beginning to tell her own story.

I see him in her movement. An easy, balanced stride with the kind of freedom that makes you stop and watch.

I see him in her conformation.

I see him in the way she carries herself.

And I see her Dam every time she decides she’s in charge of the other babies...even though she’s the youngest.

With every passing day, she reveals a little more of herself.

We pay attention to her movement, her conformation, her mind, her temperament, and the quiet moments that reveal who she is.

At American Dream Horse, we have one goal: to produce your dream horse while proudly supporting our veterans. We strive to raise horses that are enjoyable for everyone, and we all know there’s no feeling quite as free as riding the smooth glide of a Rocky Mountain Horse.

As we celebrate 250 years of America, we wish you, your family, and your horses a fun, safe, and memorable Independence Day. Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, people decided that freedom was worth everything....their lives, their comfort, their families. Men stood on the front lines. Women held everything together behind them, beside them, and sometimes right alongside them...nursing the wounded, keeping farms alive, raising children alone, and carrying the weight of a nation on their shoulders without recognition or reward.

My family answered that call at the very beginning. Every generation, dating back to the American Revolutionary War, gave something to this country. My father among them. That legacy is not lost on me. It lives in me every single day.

American Dream Horse was born from that same spirit...the belief that something worth having is worth sacrificing for, worth doing right, worth passing on.

On this 250th birthday of the greatest nation the world has ever known, I want to speak directly to the military families...the ones who serve, the ones who send their loved ones, the ones who wait, the ones who grieve, and the ones who carry on quietly without a single word of thanks.

Thank you.

Not just today. But for every generation that made it possible for the rest of us to dream.

The American Dream is not just a phrase to us. It is a living, breathing inheritance ... forged in sacrifice, upheld in honor, and carried forward in the way we live, the way we raise these horses, and the way we treat every person who walks through our gates.

✨ COLOR DNA RESULTS ARE IN! ✨

We are excited to announce the color DNA results for ADH Hold My Crown!

This beautiful filly tested:

🧬 E/E – No red factor detected
🧬 Rn/Rn – Homozygous Classic Roan

That means she carries two copies of the Classic Roan gene and two copies of the black gene, making her a very special addition to our program.

But color is only part of the story, and this filly packs it all as a stand out beauty with brains, conformation and naturall gait.

ADH Hold My Crown is sired by GWF High Velocity (“Hank”), and we continue to be impressed by the quality he is producing. Hank consistently stamps his offspring with beautiful conformation, natural gait, athletic ability, and the kind, willing disposition that makes them a pleasure to be around.

As breeders, our goal has always been to produce horses that are more than just pretty colors. We want horses that are functional, trainable, naturally gaited, and enjoyable partners for their owners. Hank’s offspring continue to prove that exceptional color and exceptional quality can go hand in hand.

We couldn’t be more excited to watch this filly grow and develop. If she is anything like her sire, her future is incredibly bright.

After years of producing and preserving the qualities we value, Purdue’s Elektra may be writing her final chapter as a broodmare.

At 15.1 hands, with rare old bloodlines and the kind of natural gait that has made her a treasured part of our program, she’s currently on a date with one of our old bloodline stallions.

If all goes well, this will be her last foal before retirement.

Some legacies aren’t measured in ribbons or titles...they’re carried forward through the generations they leave behind.
