This week's featured matchup pits the Stratford High School Spartans against the James Lawson High School Lightning under the lights at Buster Boguskie Stadium. Kick-off at 7:30 p.m.

The Nashville Civitan Club presents annual awards that include the Walter Nipper/A.D. Hancock Sportsmanship Awards for football and the Moss Oliver Awards for girls' and boys' basketball. The organization's newest award is the Scott Brunette Civitan Cup, which is presented to the school that earns the most points in Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) sports throughout the previous school year and named after long-time Metro Nashville Public Schools athletic director Scott Burnette.

The first recipient of the Scott Brunette Civitan Cup is Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School recognized for its overall athletic excellence in Division I boys' and girls' sports. Congratulations to the Firebirds on a job well done, as well as to all of the other award recipients.

The Nashville Civitan Club is a local chapter of Civitan International and has been serving the community for more than 100 years. Civitan International is a global organization of volunteer service clubs dedicated to helping people in their local communities. Civitans assist wherever there is a need, from collecting food for homeless shelters and volunteering at retirement homes to building playgrounds for children with disabilities.

MLK Magnet High School scholar -athletes teamed up with Jackson State University and the Chicago Bears for an unforgettable day of academics, athletics, and leadership during the schools "Welcome to Royal Kingdom" inaugural event. The event was held Friday, August 28.

Student-athletes received valuable information on college recruitment, eligibility, and success beyond high school. Dr. Anthony Blevins, assistant special teams coach for the Chicago Bears, led an inspiring fireside chat with students and parents, sharing expert advice on becoming a successful scholar-athlete.

The Jackson State University cheer team hosted a special clinic for MLK's Varsity Cheer squad. The cheer team assisted MLK cheerleaders with sharpen their skills and provided creative techniques to boost school morale and spirit at school and sportring events.

MLK scholar-athletes received a wealth of knowledge in college readiness to elite mentorship along with championship-level training.
Huge thank you to Jackson State cheerleaders, the Chicago Bears and Coach Blevins for investing in MNPS students!

MNPS Football is set to be action-packed this evening across Nashville!

Hillsboro High School will christen its brand-new turf field tonight. The celebration begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Burros taking on the John Overton High School Bobcats.

Antioch High School will host the East Nashville High Eagles in Bear Country as the 102.5 The Game - Game of the Week. Expect an exciting matchup between two talented teams.

Congratulations to Damien Harris of East Nashville High School, this week's Titans High School Coach of the Week presented by Whataburger after leading the Eagles to a 19-7 upset on the road against Collierville!

For this recognition the East Nashville football program will receive a $2,000 grant from the Titans Foundation
