Thai Yoga Strength (formerly Nashville Thai Massage) is a one stop holistic shop for Thai Bodywork, Y It is moldable to whatever your needs may be.

Thai Yoga Strength seeks to bring the ancient healing art of Thai bodywork to Nashville's busy citizens. It is a system of "medicine" and healing dating back to almost the buddha! Performed on a mat on the floor, Thai bodywork uses a system of rythmic compression, acupressure, and yoga type stretching to open the body and release tension and energy blocks. Because of the nature of the work, it is suitable for all people.

Some of the best moments of a class are when the "wheels fall off" and everyone is simply exploring the work. Nothing beats the experience of receiving and providing this work in a group setting.

Scenes from day one of our Level 2 Practitioner Program. It's always a privilege to share knowledge with open and eager students. Each person brings a unique set of experiences, skills, and a determination to put in the necessary time. Not a single person here is looking for the fast track or short cut. There's no better way to honor our teachers than by sharing this work with these students. Be on the lookout for more amazing Thai bodywork therapists in the near future!

Everyone loves a flashy move, and they do serve a purpose, but the magic of a session comes from the basics. The most successful sessions are usually the most boring to watch. If you've been avoiding Thai bodywork because you're worried about your flexibility, do not worry. We save the flashy for when it's absolutely necessary.

Messing around during a break on Day 1 of the Practitioner Program. Obviously not what we're learning, but class should always be fun.

What sets our Practitioner Program apart from others? We aren't out to give you a paint-by-numbers sequence. Our program will take you beyond rote technique training. You will learn to use the tools that allow you to foster your unique style.

Unlike bigger programs, we intentionally keep class sizes very small. Teachers have spent years honing their skills in real world scenarios. Working with corners is still our main practice. You won't find anyone on the TYS team who spent a week in Thailand and came back to immediately start teaching.

The TYS Practitioner Program will take you from beginner to professional level therapist. Though much has been modernized for a contemporary wellness setting, we still emphasize the historical and cultural context of the work. Even though the learning never ends, you will leave this program with a mastery of technique as well as your own individual approach.

Class sizes are limited, so grab your spot early. Click on booking and hit the classes tab. Level 1 begins in March.

Last night I watched The Stone on Netflix. A good movie out of Thailand that revolves around the chaos of a young man discovering his father owned a super rare Thai amulet. Chaos ensues.

This got me thinking about the story behind my Thai amulet. I purchased it outside of Wat Si Koet in Chiang Mai. There were many sellers throughout Chiang Mai, but this individual called to me. As did this amulet (I had no desire to purchase one prior to seeing the one I ended up buying).

After a bit of sleuthing online, I was able to verify the information giving to me by the seller. I also discovered that it has its own fun backstory, the full extent of which I will never know. It's uncommon, possibly even rare, and almost worthless when it comes to monetary value. I find that combination oddly beautiful.

Going back down this rabbit hole of discovery reminded me of the need to be more mindful during my practice and in daily life. What fills your bowl depends on your actions. That true loving-kindness isn't reserved for the ones who are the easiest to give it to. There is magic in these amulets, even if it's only to remind us of the values we wish to keep. - Jacob

Another beautiful class in the books. This one really rejuvenated the spirit and rekindled that fire for passing on the teachings that have been given to me. As always, I forgot to take pictures until the last minute. I was totally caught up in the present. 2026 I'm going to commit to offering a full practitioner program. Spread the word and hopefully we will see you in class! - Jacob
