Most of what gets announced in September was agreed months earlier.
Clubs can talk to a player almost any time. What they can’t do is file the paperwork.
If a move crosses leagues, one of these dates is always closing before the other.
Which of the three applies changes who’s really negotiating, and how much room the player has.
It’s the one deadline that isn’t really there for the club or the player.
Having options in August comes from decisions made about the contract a year or two earlier.
From the outside a transfer looks fast. The planning behind it usually isn’t.

Most players sign one contract and assume it covers everything. It doesn’t.
Playing rights end at the final whistle. Image rights are where a career becomes a business.
Some club usage is standard and fair — kit, squad marketing, matchday. Knowing the limit is the point.
A boot deal, a campaign, a partnership: separate paper, separate negotiation, separate value.
Release clauses, exclusivity, carve-outs for personal sponsors. Written in, or lost by silence.
Signing without reading this section is how a player ends up renting her own name.
Know what you own before you sign it.

A los 19 años, Fiorella Pico ya ha vestido la camiseta de Ecuador Sub-17, Sub-20 y la absoluta. Pocas jugadoras recorren ese camino tan rápido. 🇪🇨

At 19, Fiorella Pico has already worn Ecuador’s jersey at the U-17, U-20 and senior level. Few players make that climb this fast. 🇪🇨

In 2021, an NWSL expansion fee sounded steep. Five years later, it’s the cheapest it will ever be again.
$2M to $165M isn’t inflation. It’s a market finally being priced correctly.
Early conviction, not luck: a $2M entrant is now valued at $335M.
179% growth since 2023, across 14 teams. This is a league repricing in real time.
63,004 fans at one home opener. Demand is outrunning even the valuations.
ESPN, CBS, Amazon Prime, Scripps — broadcasters priced it at $240M. The biggest bet yet on women’s soccer.
This isn’t an NWSL story. It’s the leading edge of where capital is moving across women’s sports.
Ownership, valuation, attendance, broadcast — four independent signals, one direction.
Felkrem represents the athletes building this value — across the whole game.
