Some days should never be just a memory. 💔
It was July of 2006, just 5 short years after tragedy struck our country. I was spending some time in New York City performing. We stayed a few days longer to really get the full tourist experience... and what we saw was something that will sit with me forever. This trip became about so much more than dance....
This is John Morabito. The chauffeur of Ladder 10, one of the first engine houses to arrive on the tragic scene. I didn't know it then, but I was sitting next to an American hero. The older I get, the more I think about this moment differently. I think about what he had seen, who he had lost, and what it must have taken to walk back into that firehouse and keep going. I wish I could go back and tell that little 8-year-old girl just how special that moment was... that she wasn't simply just meeting a firefighter, she was meeting someone who had lived through a piece of history that our country would carry forever.
Today we remember. We honor. We never forget. 🇺🇸
