As I look out my sliding glass door through the smokey haze, I notice a Daddy long Leg spider, (which by the way is not a spider, it's called a Harvestmen, but is in the arachnid family. ) and I'm not a spider person lol, but surprisingly I started to get a little emotional. I felt sad that it had to be outside with the smokey air. I realized I haven't really heard the chirping of birds, and I have only seen one Robin. I haven't seen Chippy the Chipmunk that visits my Happy Buddha statue daily, and sits on his head.

I myself feel a little off lately. The smokey haze is hazing my brain and increases this off feeling. I think, is this going to be the norm every summer? The smokey air makes me hazily think and reflect, it pulls out compassion, it makes me slow down. It's not good, but it's not all bad either.
In the bad I see little cracks of clear sky in my mind. The cracks show how the bad can awaken a compassionate heart, awaken thinking of others human, animal, plant, instead of myself.

Your Authenticity: You would see right through your own defense mechanisms and masks.

Your Kindness: You would experience first hand how much warmth and empathy you offer to strangers.

The goal of this reflection is not self-criticism, but alignment. True self-love means shaping your character so that if you did meet yourself, you would find a loyal, fascinating, and deeply kind friend.
