Oh, man ... How great is this 1919 photo of "The Scalpers" bowling team, which Traces of Texas reader Scott Hendrix kindly shared? The Scalpers bowled in the Austin Saengerrunde bowling alley, next to Scholz beer garden. The Saengerrunde was established in 1879 by German immigrants to sing, enjoy friends, and drink beer. The bowling alley was built in 1892 and was originally two lanes but has since expanded to six.
