Congrats to our ⭐STAAR⭐ of the month: Calleigh H!

“This is Calleigh's first year being a STAAR, and she is doing an amazing job. We have very young dancers on Monday, and she is helpful when we are getting them in the door and to a dot. As soon as the dancers are released to their parents, I don't even have to ask; she is already cleaning up. It is going to be a lot of fun with her this season!”

This is her first year as a JR. assistant, and she is on the D2D Hip-Hop Crew team. Congratulations, Calleigh!!

Question: can you tell us more about your dance background?

Answer: yes! According to my mom (my biggest fan), I begged to take dance class, even before I can remember! At our communities rec center, I was able to take tumbling and a couple ballet classes. I was NOT a natural! Later, still begging… my mom signed me up for classes at age 9, at Pace productions Dance Studio, with Cindy Peca Dolan ♥️. The importance of a childhood / teenage dance studio, will forever be impressed on me, from this second home. Boom! Instant dance life and lifelong friends. Dance, it was work; and I loved every second of it!!! (Big thanks to Mama Mia for working the front desk of studio to help with my million classes). Later went to Orange County School of the Arts, had some of the most amazing training, that I will forever be grateful for. Later, I had the privilege of dancing professionally in LA, with a dense agent. A memorable performance for me was performing the rock opera Quadrophenia, with a sold out show at the Avalon in Hollywood. My true love was choreography… I began teaching at a few local studios some regularly and some as a sub. It was a joy! I had the huge privilege to dance in choreograph with the creative arts worship team at Rock Harbor and Branches HB. The examples of leadership I saw here were life-changing. I continued to dance and teach studios from California to Wisconsin and back to Texas. I am very grateful to be at my third season. I absolutely love teaching!!! I am sometimes awestruck by the growth I see as humans, as well as dancers, at this studio. I am grateful to say I have currently lost count of the amount of classes I am teaching, I think it is in the 25 to 30 range, with eight solos, in whimsical wonders, performance team teams. So grateful! I am also a certified acrobatic arts instructor, adding to the following styles currently teaching at DBD: Jazz, contemporary, ballet, tap, musical theater, breaking, Acro. This is my third season at DBD, love learning from the team, and I love my DBD Family! Never take it granted! 5678 🙌🏽. I would tell little me
