Partnering is a technique of its own. 🩰

Pas de deux requires much more than knowing the choreography. Timing, placement, weight transfer, communication, coordination, and trust all have to work together — and each partnership brings its own set of adjustments.

In this first private session together, Guillaume Basso works one-on-one with an advanced pre-professional dancer on developing greater clarity and confidence in her partnering work.

Alongside ballet technique, pointe, variations, audition preparation, and competition coaching, Adage Ballet Academy also offers private pas de deux and partnering lessons with Guillaume for experienced dancers looking to strengthen this important part of their training.

Private lessons are now booking at Lucymont.

Meet Abby Jayne DeAngelo — Founder & Artistic Director of Adage Ballet Academy. 🩰

“Ballet has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

From my early training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, to the Professional Division at Pacific Northwest Ballet, to dancing professionally with PNB, the studio has always been where I learned who I was — as an artist, a student, and eventually, a teacher.

Over time, performing became teaching. Teaching became coaching, mentorship, and artistic leadership.

In 2021, I founded Adage Ballet Academy with the belief that dancers deserve training that is rigorous, thoughtful, and deeply human — training that develops not only technique, but understanding, confidence, artistry, and longevity.

Today, I’m proud to lead Adage into its next chapter at Lucymont, while continuing to perform and work as a freelance artist within the professional dance community.

I still believe the best teaching comes from staying curious, staying connected to the art form, and continuing to grow alongside the dancers in front of you.

If you’re looking for individualized coaching, private lessons are now booking at Adage Ballet Academy.

Come train with me at Lucymont.” ✨

Introducing Movie Nights at Lucymont. 🎬🩰
A free community event for dancers, families, and arts lovers.

Join Adage Ballet Academy on Saturday, October 10 for our very first Movie Night at Lucymont, featuring La Bayadère.

Movie Nights have been part of the Adage tradition for years: an opportunity to gather, learn about one of the great works of classical ballet, share food together, and experience a professional production on the big screen.

We’re thrilled to bring that tradition to New Castle — and for the first time, open it to the wider community.

We’ll begin with a short introduction to the ballet, its story, music, history, and choreography, followed by a professional filmed performance.

“Class was fantastic. I learned a lot. I was able to move better than I thought. But, most importantly, I felt supported when I made mistakesand motivated to continue! I loved the class and left feeling uplifted and like a dancer. It was a good feeling.”

Week One at Lucymont is complete. 🩰✨

Our first week of Academy classes in our new home is officially behind us, and there is already so much learning happening in these studios.

In this reel, Artistic Director Abby Jayne DeAngelo 🎀αвву ʝαуиє ∂єαиgєℓσ🎀 breaks down piqué en avant into arabesque and piqué en arrière — looking closely at direction, placement, coordination, and the mechanics that allow a dancer to move clearly through space.

This is the kind of detailed, thoughtful work that shapes strong technique over time.

We hope even more dancers will come discover the beauty, discipline, and artistry of ballet with us this season.

There are several ways to dance with Adage:

• Full-time enrollment remains open
• Open ballet classes twice each week
• Private lessons are booking now
• Drop-in classes are available for dancers training full-time elsewhere

Come experience our brand-new studios at Lucymont and continue growing with us this fall.

Improve your form with us this fall. 🩰

In this week’s Theory class, Guillaume Basso is asking our dancers to look beyond the steps themselves and consider something more fundamental: what makes a form in ballet visually clear, balanced, and recognizable?

Before we can refine a position physically, we first need to understand what we are trying to create.

This fall, our Primary Tier dancers are beginning the year with a six-week study of the mechanics of form — learning to identify the silhouette of the body, understand the principles behind it, and then develop that form through both technique and conditioning.

Ballet is filled with iconic forms. An arabesque, for example, may be immediately recognizable, but achieving a beautifully organized arabesque can require years of refinement. The body becomes the material we work with: strengthened, coordinated, placed, and gradually shaped through thoughtful practice.

That is why Theory is an important part of our full-time curriculum. Dancers need moments away from the barre to study concepts, ask questions, and understand the why behind what they are practicing.

A strong beginning creates the foundation for everything that follows.

Theory class is included for full-time students in our Preparatory and Primary Tiers.

The season has officially begun. 🩰✨

Classes started last night, and we could not be more excited for everything ahead at Lucymont.

For the first six weeks of the year, our dancers are studying the mechanics of form — building a deeper understanding of placement, alignment, coordination, and how the body organizes itself within classical ballet technique.

So this fall, our invitation is simple:
