🥊 A LITTLE ABOUT MY BOXING MIND…
People see me coaching fighters, but a lot of people don’t really know what type of boxing coach I am.
My goal isn’t to teach somebody how to throw punches.
I’m trying to build complete, universal boxers.
I study different schools of boxing — American, Cuban, Soviet/Eastern European, Detroit, Philly — and take principles that actually work and teach my fighters how to understand them.
Everything starts with stance, balance and footwork.
I believe the rear leg is the control center — balance, defense, positioning and power.
I teach my fighters to box off the back foot and fight off the front foot.
Pressure doesn’t mean recklessly walking forward.
Defense doesn’t mean running.
Power doesn’t mean loading up.
I want fighters who can think, adjust, defend, counter, pressure, box and fight when necessary.
And especially in amateur boxing, I teach them to understand how to WIN rounds clean punches, combinations, variety, defense, controlling the exchanges and knowing when to close the round strong.
I’m not trying to manufacture another version of somebody else’s fighter.
I’m trying to develop a fighter who has answers.
That’s the boxing mind behind Dare To Be Great Boxing here in little ol’ New Castle, PA.
Blue-collar work with a thinking man’s approach. 🥊🧠
Complete. Universal. Adaptable.
That’s DTBG Boxing.
