YCT is the largest club sports team at Yale! We are a community of students brought together by our love of the sport and the outdoors.

Although usual gym practices and team events have been impacted, join us to meet fellow members with similar interests! The Yale Climbing Team trains its members for competition in USA Climbing's Collegiate Climbing Series (CCS), which happens every spring semester. Prior climbing experience is not required to participate in practices or competition-- both provide a great way to get better at rock

🌎Where in the World is YCT?🌎

Aiwen Desai ‘25 is in the Seattle airport! (The author of these posts has an uncanny ability to know where Aiwen is). She is on the way home from Juneau, Alaska where she spent the summer walking up hills and running down them. When not doing either of those things, she worked at a climbing gym and coerced members to go adventuring with her (“making friends,” as they diplomatically referred to it). Said adventures included learning about bears on a whale-watching tour, crawling through ice caves, and getting search and rescued off a mountain. That early morning flight fatigue is starting to hit Aiwen now, so she’s going to go take a nap before her next flight. Can’t wait to get back to campus and see the YCT homies!!

🌎Where in the World is YCT?🌎

Mac Huffard ‘22+1 and Mollie Finnegan ‘24 are on a sailboat! More specifically, a sailboat off the coast of Maine. They’re on a 35 day sailing trip up and down the coast, and are passing the time by eating lots of pasta and trying to stay out of the sun as much as possible. So far they’ve seen tons of seals and cool birds and are keeping their eyes peeled for whales- please report back if you see any!!

🌎Where in the World is YCT?🌎

Ella Lubin ‘23.5 is in Greenland! She’s on a remote island near the town of Sisimiut studying the geophysics of pseudotachylyte veins (say that three times fast!). “Pseudotachylyte” refers to rocks formed of melt that occurred during ancient earthquakes- ya learn something new every day! She’s been eating a lot of Nutella, seeing rock patterns when she closes her eyes, and laying on the sun warmed rocks when the cold wind blows…sometimes falling asleep. The sun never sets, so after her dinners of dehydrated beans Ella likes to read, hike, fart, and attempt to escape the throngs of mosquitos. Sounds like an ideal summer!!
