Many of these are equally true of Taijutsu and most other martial arts. Worth the watch.

I don't fully understand why so many people believe MMA (or Jujutsu, Taijutsu, or any other art they practice) is the end-all be-all of martial arts. I tire of the argument, "That technique is fake, because it wouldn't work in MMA" or even "It wouldn't work on me with my training." Please stop.
First consider, is it meant for that?... MMA is not self defense. Not to say it can't be used for it, but its not meant for it. It's a sport and there are rules and strategies in it which are specific to it. Most Martial arts can be divided into (or favor) 2 different approaches. Sport combat, where prodding and testing your opponent is common... And street or battlefield combat where attacks are expected to be more committed. Neither is better than the other but they serve different purposes. A particular technique may not work on an MMA athlete but still work on the 99.99% of the population that isn't one.
Are you making an argument that falls down a slippery slope of disproving itself. Aikido is fake because MMA would beat it... first of all, it always depends on the athletes. That aside, if something is fake because something else will usually beat it then MMA is fake because knives exist... knives are harmless because guns exist... guns don't work because bombs exist...etc etc etc... this is dumb. Martial arts are not about universal application. If you MUST be that person who ignores personal enjoyment and exercise, at least realize every technique is about closing one of infinite holes in your defense. Nothing is a perfect defense, no art works in every situation.
I'm not saying there are no bad techniques... "No touch knockouts" come to mind. But many techniques may work better than you understand and in situations you aren't considering. Pressure test as best you can and don't jump to these silly arguments of contrarians and keyboard warriors. Be better.
I could continue on this topic for an entire book, I will likely continue to post more about this topic in the future but for now thanks for reading, be humble, stay safe.

The one point I would also add to this which is important is that it isn't always the art... sometimes it is the approach. You can take the most effective art and still train it to be FBMA, and likewise, some arts that are often FBMA heavy can be trained and approached to have legitimate application. I could talk on this subject for days.
