For EMS Week, we thought it would be cool to highlight some of the amazing work our EMS responders do, and the crazy volume of calls Yale New Haven Hospital sponsored providers complete annually. Truly impressive!

As we kick off EMS Week 2026, we are proud to reflect on our 12th Annual YNHH-CEMS EMS Week Celebration. This special event recognizes the incredible dedication, compassion, and professionalism of EMS providers throughout our region.

Each year, peers nominate individuals who exemplify excellence in emergency medical services, and we are honored to recognize the following award recipients:

The highlight of the ceremony was recognizing the 42 cardiac arrest survivors from 2025. Ten survivors were able to attend and reunite with the EMS providers whose rapid actions, clinical excellence, and teamwork helped save their lives. These reunions are powerful reminders of the impact EMS professionals make every single day.

We were also honored to recognize Dr. Katherine Couturier for her dedicated years of service as EMS Medical Director. Her leadership, commitment to education, and unwavering support of EMS providers have helped make these extraordinary outcomes possible.

To all EMS providers, dispatchers, educators, and first responders — thank you for the sacrifices you make each day in service to others. We wish everyone a safe, healthy, and Happy EMS Week 2026!
