Buoy races are unique in challenging the team of cadets to make split second decisions and to perform at high intensity for the duration of the race. Offshore races focus more on endurance, preparation, navigation, and weather prediction. From dinghies and J/70s back to big boats, Ocean Racing is officially underway. The first shakeout sail marks the beginning of another season of seamanship, teamwork, and competition on the water.

Congratulations to the recipients of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy ECSA Offshore Racing and Seamanship Award. The award was presented to the 2025 awardee Cadet 2C Keith Teague and the 2024 awardee Cadet 2C Connor Boudreaux. They are pictured with Lincoln White their Head Offshore Coach. These cadets along with the rest of their team raced in the Kennedy Cup hosted by the Naval Academy in Annapolis. They placed third against top maritime programs and service academy rivals.

Coach Lincoln took some special time to join / Former USCGA Glory ๐บ๐ธfor Frolicโs Mediterranean leg of their voyage. Led by Frolicโs new owner, world renowned yachtsman HL DeVore , their team of 4 sailed roughly 750 miles and visited 3 different countries in 7 days including Sicily, Vulcano, Amalfi, Pasatano, Bonifacio & Mallorca. ๐ฎ๐น ๐ซ๐ท ๐ช๐ธ
