How long can you hang?
Last night in our Aerial Hoop class, we put our grip strength to the test with a full 60-second hang challenge inspired by Mel Robbins and Dr. Brennan Spiegel’s discussion on longevity and overall health.
At first glance, it seems simple. Just hang from a bar for one minute.
But grip strength is being recognized as one of the strongest indicators of overall health, functional fitness, and even longevity. It’s connected to everything from cardiovascular health to maintaining independence as we age.
The best part? Our students showed up, challenged themselves, and discovered they’re capable of more than they thought.
At J. Rouge, we talk a lot about strength, but not just for tricks, spins, and beautiful shapes in the air. We train for life. Every class is an opportunity to build resilience, confidence, mobility, coordination, and strength that carries far beyond the studio walls.
So tell us… could you hang for 60 seconds?
TAG A FRIEND who would CRUSH this challenge (or needs to try it) and SAVE this post so you can test yourself later.
Thank you Sheri for filming this in your class last night!

Looking for something fun to do with your little one this summer?
Introducing Wiggle & Wonder at J. Rouge Fitness — a playful parent-and-child class designed for ages 2–4, where curiosity leads the way.
WHEN: Tuesday’s & Friday’s from 11am-12pm
WHO: Up to six families, maximum of three kids per family. Kid ages 2-4
Through songs, movement, aerial-inspired exploration, interactive toys, and imaginative play, your toddler can wiggle, climb, discover, and wonder in a safe and welcoming environment.
This is not a structured “sit and listen” class—it’s an opportunity for little movers to explore at their own pace while parents connect, laugh, and make memories right alongside them.
Parents stay and participate with their children throughout class. Because let’s be honest… the best adventures are the ones we share together.
Tag a local mama who needs a fun outing with her little one and save this post for summer planning. Registration is required and spots are limited!

“I have no upper body strength.”
Perfect. That’s literally why Beginner 1 Taped Hoop exists.
You do not need to “get in shape first.”You do not need to suffer through boring gym workouts pretending to enjoy dumbbells. You do not need to already be strong to begin.
You just need to start.
The beautiful thing about aerial fitness is that strength becomes a byproduct of having fun. One day you’re laughing through class thinking your arms might fall off, and the next thing you know you’re lifting your body weight, moving with confidence, and surprising yourself in ways you never expected.
Strength matters far beyond aesthetics. Staying physically strong creates longevity. It gives you freedom. Freedom to travel, to play, to carry your groceries without struggle, to show up fully for your family, your partner, your children, your career, your friendships, and most importantly yourself.
Physical strength changes your emotional state. It builds resilience, confidence, discipline, and self-trust.
So honestly… skip the gym and come hang upside down with us instead.
Beginner 1 Taped Hoop is waiting for you at J. Rouge Fitness.
TAG A FRIEND you would like to try this with… memorial Day we will be choosing one person at random and GIFT A FREE CLASS!
POV: your contractor is also a dancer and every cement cloud becomes choreography.
Grinding floors for the new studio floors all day and somehow it turned into a full performance piece. Because apparently I can’t do manual labor without adding rhythm, attitude, and high heels to the situation.
The concrete got smoother.
The moves got sharper.
And yes… the grinder and I are now in a committed relationship.
Building this space one dusty, dramatic step at a time. J. Rouge style means even the hard work gets performed with intention.
