Everyone Hi guys, I am receiving emails inquiring about spring and summer schedules for refreshers and full sessions. Many are concerned that they missed the posting. I have not opened a schedule for registration in 2024 yet. Our son, Adam, will undergo his third surgery this month in the morning and I am not able to commit to a swim schedule until he is home, stable and healing. I am anxious to get back in the pool and will post schedules as soon as possible. Typically, I offer two, 2-week refresher sessions in early spring at the Summit. I am hoping to do the same this year. I will also have time slots available for maintenance and refreshers during the full sessions offered in the summer. We want to thank everyone that has reached out to inquire about Adam, we truly appreciate all of the thoughts, prayers, and positive energy sent our way. As always, you are welcome to follow his journey at Because of ADAM . Thank you all for your patience and understanding and have a happy and safe Easter!

Questions you should ask your swim instructor before taking lessons from them:

Do you teach survival skills to my child’s age group? (The answer should be yes, as long as the child is old enough to sit up well on their own)

Do you teach children my child’s age to roll to a float when they fall into the water? (The answer should be yes as this is the main survival skill for the youngest kids)

Do you teach kids to problem solve, find the exits to the pool and do you teach them the skills they need to be able to swim, float, swim to get to a place to get out? Do you teach them how to get themselves out of the water? (The answers should be yes)

How long will it take for my child to learn these skills? (The answer should be in weeks, not months or years, but it should also not be in just a few weeks either)

Who certified you to teach these skills? (Make sure the instructor was properly trained how to teach these skills by a true survival swim school-do your research!!)

Do you use flotation devices to teach children how to survive in the water? (We recommend you go with someone who doesn’t use devices for this purpose as devices often cause bad body positioning and can delay the rate of learning)

Do you teach survival skills with children fully clothed? (The answer should be yes as 69% of kids who drown aren’t meant to be near water at the time of their accident and will likely be fully clothed)

Do you offer ongoing or refresher lessons? (The answer should be yes, because as kids grow, their bodies reaction to water will change and they need to know how to adapt to that and be able to use their skills as they grow)

Are your classes one on one or in a group? (One on one is how survival swim is taught)

Are you certified in CPR/First Aid/AED? (The answer should be yes)

If anyone is interested in ISR lessons, I will be offering one session (for new students) this summer beginning on June 19th at my home in Duncansville, and I still have a few time slots available! If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] for more information.
I also will have times available for Refresher and Maintenance lessons during the session for all those students that previously completed the initial session!

🚨In more than three out of four fatal drowning incidents, the child was seen less than five minutes before the unthinkable happened.

😢And in most of those cases, the child was last seen in the house, nowhere near the pool. And in many of those cases, the child was last seen asleep in the bedroom.

No matter how hard we try, there are going to be brief moments when we are not looking directly at our children.

Someone knocks on the door, the phone rings, your older child runs inside with a bloody nose from a flying baseball — life happens.

✋🏽Implementing multiple layers of protection is the best way to make sure that these distractions don’t turn into tragedy.

Life Saver recommends:

✅High locks and alarms on all doors and windows with pool access.

✅A pool safety fence, isolating the pool from the home and all access points.

✅Alarms both in the pool and worn on the child.

✅Water survival training as soon as the child is crawling.

✅And finally, CPR and rescue training.

We would like to wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend! 🇺🇸Please stay vigilant with the layers of protection and always assign a water watcher.
