Help us Roll!
We are the 504 Village People activated to save lives, especially the youth, one roll at a time. In response to a rise in juvenile crime in New Orleans, United We Skate 504 materialized; after learning roller skating was prescribed to veterans who served in World War II to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Our goal is to acquire a portable skate floor and box truck to allow for more community skate events as soon as possible. Ultimately, we hope to encourage the development and opening of a skate rink in New Orleans. The city of New Orleans once had three skate rinks, we have zero now! Roller skating is therapeutic. It nurtures physical, emotional and mental health.
With your help we can reach more in need at a higher rate. It takes a village, and we want you to be apart of the village to save lives one roll at a time!

Since its inception, United We Skate 504 has presented monthly community skate events in under-served communities. Adults and kids are invited to roll with us free of charge. Roller skates, snacks and beverages are provided for attendees. Any food items left over at the end of an event are distributed to the homeless population in New Orleans.

On Saturday (Oct. 30), United We Skate 504 hosted a costumed community skate with Together Gert Town. The event, held at Thompson Playground in Gert Town, included food, free skate rentals for children, a costume contest and a skating lesson.
With kids and adults alike on skates and a DJ bumping tunes, the event is part of an ongoing series of monthly pop-up skates with free rentals to underserved communities. Judy Boudreaux of United We Skate 504 said she was pleased with the turnout. “Every community skate we have, participation increases,” said Boudreaux, a New Orleans native who skated in her youth at Skate Country on Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans East.
