America’s premier college cheerleaders are back — with a vengeance! The pride of the country’s only historically Black and Catholic university stormed the heartland in glorious Xavier Gold and gleaming white on champion black uniforms to recapture the NAIA National Title for Competitive Cheer!!

2026 NAIA COMPETITIVE CHEER NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Day One: Xavier Competitive Cheer at NAIA Cheer National Championship in Topeka, Kansas

After standout careers at Xavier, three alumni have punched their ticket to the Big Dance with their PVAMU teammates by defeating the Southern Jaguars in a thrilling championship final Saturday night.

Lance Williams ’25, Cory Dunning ’25, and Cory Wells ’24 were joined in Atlanta this week by several of their fellow Xavier alumni including former Gold Rush basketball players.

Across four tournament wins, Lance Williams applied unrelenting pressure with 65 points (16.25 ppg), once again proving he rises when the stakes are highest.

Cory Wells averaged 15.5 ppg (62 total), highlighted by a 22-point performance against Bethune-Cookman in the quarterfinals that helped knock off the #1 seed. He also added 8 blocks, showing the same defensive dominance that earned him RRAC Defensive Player of the Year honors at Xavier.

Cory Dunning anchored the paint with 28 rebounds (7 per game) and 7 blocks while starting all four games, delivering the commanding defensive presence Prairie View needed all week.
