The exceptional wine shop formerly known as Hopper's Carte des Vins evolved into NOLA Wine Merchant. Ric Hopper has retired and we're making adjustments. Brian Perkins continues in his role of the last five years and Geoff Worden has happily returned to retail. Frank Klug is now a decade into his time at the store, allowing us to be open seven days a week by running things on Sundays and Mondays.

A fresh easy-drinking Gruner Veltliner, a new vintage of one of our favorite rosés(!), a wild sparkling Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa, a red blend from the same country and a declassified Bandol - perfect if lamb is in your plans this weekend.

Our spring celebration continues today with two rosés, including Gonc’s Grape Abduction in a liter bottle, plus three reds, all available for tasting. Sfera Rosso, chillable red (also in liter bottles), a savory complex Nero d’Avola for a bargain price and a 2006 Crianza Rioja (also at a fantastic price).

The new vintage of Rubentis Txakolina Rosé arrived today. Meinklang’s fantastic fizz arrived Tuesday and the Xarmant Txakolina Blanco arrived late last week. Opening them all now to celebrate!

Two new reds perfect for this dreary weather. A Côtes-du-Rhône from and a Syrah from Barnard Griffin in Washington State. If more Syrah tasted like this you would drink a lot more Syrah!
