👨👩👧👦 Open to New Orleans youth & families
Please share with families, coaches, and young athletes in the community!
2. Confuse Identity and Purpose
If you blur the sources of meaning—family, community, nation, faith, vocation—young people drift. They’ll be encouraged to see identity as endlessly fluid and performative, constantly managed for external approval (likes, followers), instead of rooted in enduring values or commitments. This makes them malleable, anxious, and dependent on external validation.
Here the devil uses the word that best explains why some kids have been pushed into a pit of despair while others have stood their ground: rootedness. In our research for The Anxious Generation, Zach Rausch and I found that those who were rooted in binding moral communities had some protection from the negative mental-health effects of the new phone-based childhood. Teens who said “religion is important in my family” suffered smaller increases in depression and anxiety. So did self-described conservatives, who generally live in a more constraining, binding moral matrix, while progressive moralities aim to grant people more freedom to choose their values and create their own identities. So what happens when we re-graph the data from Figure 1 by politics and religiosity?
Big shout out to some incredible partners and friends! 🙌🏾
First off, huge thanks to Demario & Tamela Davis and the Devoted Dreamers Foundation for inviting us to a New Orleans Saints home game and blessing our team with 30 tickets! 🎟️ The way you serve this city—and how you pour into our youth—is truly inspiring.
Because of the Devoted Dreamers’ heart, we were also connected to Ms. Wande and her amazing team at Jim Hall & Associates LLC, who surprised our boys by buying their food at the same game. Talk about blessings on top of blessings! 🙏🏾
And it didn’t stop there—Jim Hall & Associates have now partnered with Rebuild Ministries NOLA to help families right here in the 9th Ward. That’s what community looks like! 💪🏾
Lastly, a huge salute to The 18th Ward Sports Club! When our tackle football season couldn’t launch, they stepped up and gave our young men a home in their flag football league. We went 7-0 and brought home the championship! 🏆
Thank you all for playing a major role in my life, in the lives of our kids, and in the future of our city.
Salute! ✊🏾

📣 Now Recruiting Football Players Ages 5–12!
Hey everyone, Coach Rich here!
Whether it’s your child, grandchild, neighbor’s kid, or a young one you care about—we want them out at Sampson Park this season!
Here at Sampson, we’ve been blessed to help dozens of kids earn college scholarships, and some have even gone on to play in the NFL and CFL. Myself, along with other coaches on our staff, have been fortunate to win both a high school state championship and a college national championship—so your kid will be in great hands.
But more than football…
🏈 We’re a FAMILY OVER FOOTBALL program.
We mentor. We disciple. We care about the heart and future of each kid.
We teach our players that they are not just student-athletes—they are children of God first. God has called them to excel in the classroom, on the field, and in life. When our players leave us, their identity isn’t in football—it’s in the Heavenly Father who created them for something greater.
📍 Location: Sampson Park
📆 Ages: 5–12
🕕 Practice Time: Monday–Friday, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
