Our two-hour Big Easy Bayou Tour is offered during sunset hours March through October!

Daytime paddles are offered year round.

Kayak-iti-Yat takes you kayaking on familiar Bayou St John meandering through Mid-City and Gentilly neighborhoods within New Orleans exploring the infinite history relevant to the bayou and its surrounding area while observing its natural elements—plants and animals. We discuss ecology of the Pontchartrain Basin and southern Louisiana, the successes and challenges.

All paddles are accompanied by an engaging and knowledgeable guide. It’s even suitable for the “NOLA-it-all” as our presentations are interactive deep-dives of interesting and relevant components of New Orleans and southern Louisiana rather than scripted cliches. Plus, we love to learn from our guests!

This activity is suitable for first-time kayakers as well as experienced paddlers! We give instructions on technique and safety, and a guide will always be with you on the water. We can help improve paddling skills of those mid-level kayakers!

Jacob Bopp, of Landtrust for Louisiana is sharing his expertise of conservation biology with US! We’ll have an opportunity to listen to his knowledge, ask him questions, and have a conversation about it.

From Pine to Paddle: A Journey of Longleaf pine Conservation from North Shore to Bayou St. John

The experience is a two-hour guided paddle on Bayou St John. A Kayak-iti-Yat guide will join the paddle for instruction, safety and the occasional Bayou St John info when desired. Ultimately, we’ll be focused on Jacob.

Tickets are $55 per person. New Orleans residents pay $49.

We’ll be featuring more amazing advocates—scientists, historians, cultural icons, general Louisiana & NOLA movers-and-shakers!

Chef: William Travis DeLoach

Chef DeLoach started his culinary education in the mountains surrounding Asheville at the age of fourteen, where he was employed as a dishwasher and prep cook. Having gotten a positive taste for the high pressure environment that is a professional kitchen it only made sense to continue working on weekends while finishing highschool. With his schooling finished, he immediately dove into the culture of cuisine in Atlanta, Ga. 

Going from restaurant to restaurant as a young journeyman he was always increasing his knowledge of culinary techniques while learning from some of America’s greatest chefs. It was with this determination and passion for his craft that the opportunity arose to become the Chef of his first restaurant in the South of France, where he spent close to seventeen years. What started as a part time job ultimately became an International career spanning over thirty years and numerous countries. He has been the Chef of restaurants in Costa Rica, Thailand, England, Corsica,  and the United States. 

Upon returning to the U.S. in 2019, so that his sons could attend American highschool, Chef DeLoach has lived and worked in the Highlands and Cashiers area of North Carolina.
