NOLA MMA - New Orleans Mixed Martial Arts

Nola MMA will be holding a 6 week Women’s Intro to Striking, Grappling and Self Defense Course.

The first class will be on May 4th at 5:00pm. Subsequent classes will be held every Monday from 5:00pm-6:00pm.

Classes will include physical contact, with striking, grappling, and simulated attack situations. The goal is to safely provide a real, practical, and effective introduction to defending yourself - with the hope that you will choose to continue to train and further your martial arts practice.

The cost will be 100, and will also include access to all classes on the schedule for the 6 week duration (the course will be free of charge to any existing Nola BJJ/MMA members). You may sign up at the link below:

NOLA MMA is proud to announce our 1st ever Muay Thai Rules Smoker/Sparring Event!

This will be held March 11th, 2023, at 1016 N. Broad St., New Orleans, LA 70119. The fights will start at 6pm - Come support your friends, family, and local fighters!

$10 spectator fee

This will be open to men and women from ALL affiliations/gyms, ages 17+, and will be about getting experience, having fun, supporting the martial arts community, and engaging in healthy competition. There are no winners or losers in a smoker. This is specifically designed for those who would like to test their skill in a safe environment, and the aim is not to win or KO anyone, but to experience competition, and get a better understanding of how to compete.

Format:

2 x 2min rounds with a 1min break in between.

If both participants and coaches agree, the fighters may partake in an additional 2min round.

Level:

NO PRO FIGHTERS!

Amateur fighters with 3 or less fights will be allowed to participate.

No independent/un-attached/street fighters. You must be affiliated with a team and your coach MUST be present at the event. There will be NO exceptions.

We will match people up as best as possible according to experience level, weight, and height.

Required Equipment:

-16 oz gloves
-Shin guards (Must be Muay Thai style. No Century/Everlast style from Academy. This is for the fighters protection.)
-Elbow pads (Fairtex, Combat Sports, or Combat Corner)
-Cup
-Mouth guard
-Head Gear is optional

Schedule:

2:30pm-3:20pm: Weigh ins (You MUST be on time. We will not weigh anyone in after 3:20pm.)

3:30-4:15pm: Matchmaking

4:30pm: Rules meeting

5pm: Wrap up, gear up, warm up

6pm: 1st Fight
