Every Run Matters That is How Champions Are Made

We also want to take a special moment to recognize something that really stands out about this weekend

Huge respect to Los Caymanes and Mavericks

Mavericks showed what this game is all about. Even knowing they could not win the bracket they did not let up and they did not hand anything away.
They played hard until the final out and that matters

The difference in winning that bracket was 12 runs. That is it. Just 12 runs

Right here is why every single game and every inning counts

Even if a team is down big and can only score 7 in their last at bat those 7 runs can be the difference between going home or taking the bracket when it comes down to a tie

That is the kind of effort and respect for the game we love to see

Much appreciation to both teams for showing everyone what competing the right way looks like

Hello Everyone,
Another great weekend for Above the Dirt Sports . We want to thank all the Teams , Their Family members and friends that came out to support the tournament this weekend.
Special thanks to all the Umpires today who took the field and got the games going and on time , and battled the heat today ( it was a hot one)They are greatly appreciated and deserve alot of credit to this weekend being a success Thank you Aubrey ,Gary , Mark , Jeb
Also all the teams that came out to do battle , The weather was brutal but they got through it and we had some great games ,
Making their first Appearance was Suncoast 60 with Jim English leading the way to 4-0 winning the 60's bracket.
We had 3 way tie in the upper C bracket with
Dirty Birds , Latin Dynasty , Los Caymanes taking it to the runs against tie breaker with Los Caymanes taking the bracket win .
In the next bracket we had Team Family going 4-0 and winning for the Firat time in their Divsion
And going 4-0 in the other C bracket was Drunkin Ducks battling in the last game against Here Fer Beer to take the bracket win going 4-0 in some tough games
We also had a Suncoast Home Run Derby on Saturday with all the big guys knocking them out , and 64 yr old Richie Clark won both the 50 and 60's derby Congratulations Richie and all the participants.

We started Above the Dirt Sports as a non profit.

What does that really mean to us. It is not just a name.

It is about finding ways to keep costs down for players and also give something back to the community.

Moving forward, a portion of every tournament will go to this fund each month.
We have a goal and we are going after it strong. And honestly, we hope to blow past it.

Above the Dirt Sports 50 and Over Softball Tournaments 2026 Show your support for America's heroes.

Hello everyone long time since my last post

I have been traveling with my wife celebrating our 30 year anniversary and it has been an amazing trip.
It feels really good to be back home and talking with the softball community again.

Sounds like there has been a lot going on around the Tampa Bay area when it comes to softball. At the end of the day we are all playing this game because we love it and enjoy it no matter where we play.

Here at Above the Dirt Sports everyone is welcome. It does not matter your teams skill level. If your team is playing with us for the first time you will be placed where your coach feels you can compete and have a chance to win.
After that you will move within our point system based on your tournament results.

We are about 10 days away from our next tournament so get ready.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids days you arrive because it is getting hotter every day.

We are all grown men and women but sometimes we need a reminder that beer is not the best way to stay hydrated in the heat just saying

Hello players and coaches and followers.
We are looking forward to another successful tournament in the next couple weeks.
The cutoff date is Friday June 19th at 7 pm. You are able to Zelle or Cash app.
Bracket winners have a choice of RINGS or SHIRTS as well as each bracket winner shall receive an MVP Shirt.
We will also have a 50/50 Raffel as well as a bat Raffel winner shall get a new SUNCOAST Blue Mega Load bat.
There will also be a drawing x 4 for 50 wings voucher at Ho***rs in Lakeland.
There will be one drawing for one 50.00 credit towards July Entry fee.

Here are the results from the last tournament standings.

Some teams, as you will see, moved down in the standings. A few of those teams were asked by us to move up before and are now placed where they should be. Other teams played their first tournament with us and based on their performance were moved to a more fair spot.

As we continue to grow, brackets will be formed based on these standings. Moving forward, we will not be asking coaches to play out of their divisions A B C. We have done this over the last few months while we were growing, and we cannot thank those coaches enough who stepped up and played higher teams.

Tim and I both agree on this. If we do not have enough upper level teams to form a bracket, then we will not have that division play in the tournament. This goes for the 60 and 70 teams as well.
We will not have 60 or 70 teams play in the 50 division just to fill spots. Any 60 or 70 team that chooses to play in the 50 division because there are not enough teams for a bracket will be treated as a 50 team for that tournament.
There will be no extra help or additional fielder.

We are doing our best to keep everything fair and competitive for everyone 💪
