Another decent smallie from the Juniata this past week on the "Quiver Worm". First fish of the day. This time it was on the green pumpkin brown with purple flake version rigged weedless on an 1/8th ounce football head with 1/0 hook.

With many of our waterways starting to get covered with ice thought I would take this opportunity to share the bait that was responsible for my first fish of 2020. The "Quiver Worm" is a 3.75" floating finesse worm that pending how it is rig, floats its small paddle tail high. These will be going up on the website this week. I fished it by itself but it is also a great bait rigged inside a small tube. It is going to be offered in green pumpkin brown with purple flake and Canada Craw, a green pumpkin color with copper and red flake.

It getting colder and you can add action to your plastics by pimping them out. Go to Wal-Mart or a crafts store and purchase some ribbon or crewel needles. Get some old silicone from a spinnerbait skirt that has fallen apart or purchase some skirt layers or rubber from a fishing supply house. Thread some of the skirt material onto a ribbon needle and run it through your plastic bait. It will add a subtle action to your plastic with the slightest amount of current even if you are dead-sticking them. The photos show the needles, a bird without any appendages, one with the silicone and rubber appendages added, and what it looks like in the water.

I've had several people ask me about the Birds and the difference between ones marked floating and ones that are not. While all the Birds will float if they are not rigged on a jig that is too heavy, the floating ones will float higher. If you are looking for that subtle tail high presentation then the floating ones do a better job. If you look at this photo you will see the regular mummichog Bird on the right doesn't float with the tail as high as the one on the left that is a floating version.

Did 2 more colors in the large Birds last night. Now have a watermelon red flake and a black with blue flake. Hoping the largemouth at Kerr like these colors to.

New junebug and green pumpkin pepper red flake large birds to try at Kerr Reservoir in a couple weeks. If they perform I'll be adding these colors to our lineup.

Some new swim baits we are working on and possibly will be up on the site soon. The smaller one is similar to a River Rock bait while the large one at the bottom is a largemouth lure I am working with a mold maker to finish up.
