Basketball isn't an individual sport. People know that in theory but in practice there are too many coaches rewarding and encouraging ball hogs. You know, those players who dont wanna pass the rock, even after turnovers and less than smart decision making on the court. Somehow these athletes stay on the court the longest, get the most accolades and opportunities. Seemingly successful. Here you are, creating a hostile environment for everyone on your team. Then you wonder why there's drama between parents and athletes.
The way you coach shows your true character and what's most important to you. For many its all about winning, no matter what. But if you can't win with your wole team, and find a place for every single one of your players you probably shouldn't be coaching. Especially not a team sport like basketball. Good coaches don't like a ball hog. Teammates don't like a ball hog. At the end of the day, NO one likes a ball hog!

Week 2 of Beacon Hoops. Its exciting to see that so many of our girls signed up to play in this league for the summer. Whether they are currently training with us or have trained with us at some point on their journey we embrace their growth and help fuel their passion for basketball. Girls taking up space on the basketball court is a beautiful thing.
