What a season & what a way to end it. CONGRATULATIONS to my youngest son Alex on getting his 1st deer ever & 1st buck 🦌!! He has been sitting with me on & off for 2 seasons and we have had our share of goose-egg sits….seeing absolutely nothing & then seeing a bunch. We targeted the “Wide 6” since early archery season, but it was a game of cat & mouse. We saw this deer yesterday, but it was just too far. Despite not feeling great, he toughed it out & at 4:52pm, it all finally came together!!! So proud of him. He made a great shot & the buck dropped right where it stood.

Like father, like son. 14 years ago shot his very 1st deer here & it’s fantastic to have him back to visit. So why not sit in the same food plot as last time & wouldn’t u know it, success! Meanwhile, was making another great shot on a doe. That makes 5 for the season.

After an unbelievable start of the season, we eased into the NY Youth hunt with a little practice. This 1st pic sums up how that went with my oldest 🤦🏻‍♂️ We may have to work on reading comprehension !!

The 30-06 may have gotten the best of my youngest, but he hung tough & got dialed in. We saw deer, but he wanted to wait for something bigger. Something bigger came from the pond tho, fish on! Nearly a 20” large mouth - nice job !

And thank god for daughters! always so helpful!!

And another 1st - what a way to start the NY season!!! Not really sure why to say……CONGRATULATIONS to to the 1st ever black bear at Buck Wild Outfitters!!! Just yesterday I said, every year we get 1 picture of a bear before the season starts, but never see them live. Well, tonight that all changed. Live weight 200 lbs and has a big ole bucket head. Mark made a great shot & it didn’t go 40 yards. Way to go Mark!! 👍🏻👊🏻

CONGRATS to Tom, we’re on the board for 2024!! Nice job & great shot! We have a lot of work to do with our doe patrol this year as we just can’t keep up with these eating machines. The more we plant, the more deer seem to take residence!

This post is very overdue…..as we have been very busy this offseason. We expanded…..added another 80 acres to the farm, bringing our total to nearly 430 acres. We enhanced habitat, we did a ton of TSI, we planted nearly 400 spruce trees, we limed (77 tons worth!), we sprayed, we fertilized, we planted, we cleaned up plots to make them better, hung more stands, and the list goes on.

Huge THANK YOU to everyone involved as I couldn’t do this by myself!

Bucket list opportunity to hunt axis deer in Molekai, Hawaii. Simply amazing experience. Had 1 day & made the most of it. It went dark to dark & like most of my trips, came down to the last 30 mins. A huge shout out to Jake for his patience, determination and knowledge of his 3,000+ acres. I was so unprepared for this trip it was ridiculous. Packed nothing for hunting & had to scramble to get a license, but it all came together. The terrain is like I’ve never hunted, brick red dirt, huge gorges, mesquite trees, everything has thorns, centipedes I could have done without!!……and of course, the ocean in the background. It was a very long day & we were definitely sun baked by the end, but we got it done with a 340 yards shot with just minutes of daylight left. Plenty of video footage to be downloaded from my trusty cameraman in training - thank you you hung tough the entire day!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. 1 last thank you to for always having patience for me & my obsession, love you!

🚨 🚨 1 week & DEFINITELY counting!! It’s been a long & challenging off-season & looking forward to 10/1. Frost seeding, spraying, planting, mowing, fertilizing, more spraying, more mowing, more planting…….add in numerous hinge cuts, moving stands, adding stands, reviewing thousands of trail cam pics…….and now we anxiously wait for Opening Day.
