After we lost our beloved Darius to senseless gun violence on June 20, 2022, Mayor Eric Adams honored him by proclaiming August 8th — his birthday — as Darius Lee Day in NYC.

This proclamation recognizes Darius as more than an extraordinary athlete — it honors his character, generosity, leadership, and the love he shared with everyone around him!

His name, his light, and his legacy will live on forever in this city and in our hearts. ✨

From bounce houses, cotton candy, and icy treats to our book bag & sneaker giveaway — the kids had a blast, and the park was filled with joy, love, and unity. Just the kind of day Darius would’ve loved.

The games were full of heart, hustle, and community spirit — honoring Darius’s legacy both on and off the court.

Today marks 3 years since our hearts were forever shattered. 💔

We lost our amazing, loving, and talented Darius — affectionately known as DLee23 — to a senseless act of gun violence. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel the weight of his absence. We are not okay, but we hold tightly to the love, memories, and the legacy he left behind.
